Shipping question

Had a buyer make a purchase while my account was on time away. Purchase was made before the USPS surcharge ended and before the USPS rate increase . Buyer paid $14.06 for shipping from Ohio to Missouri for the item weighing 12.5 pounds. Went to print shipping label after time away ended but also on the same day the surcharge ended and new rates went into effect. Here’s my concern: shipping label for ground advantage states the price is

$20.15 - 13.47 discount = 6.68 ????? How was the buyer charged $14 and then my end states $6.68 ? I don’t want to print the $6 label and the buyer has a postage due upon delivery or the item returned to me and the buyer not get the item he paid for. I will also mention another package that sold during the same time frame was 2.6 pounds going from Ohio to Florida the buyer paid $8.87 . Only difference was the size of the box. Someone help me understand the math please and what do I do about printing a label?

Re: Shipping question

Need zip codes; overall 12.5 lbs for $6 does NOT sound right as using Springfield to Cleveland, retail GA is $24 (discounted down to $18)

I did notice that a 20x12x12 package weighing 15 lbs went down in price $3 from $16 to $13 after this change, so it's possible the cost went down.  However, that does sound a bit extreme.  Check the weight and dimensions and make sure it matches what you selected.

If for some reason you understated the dimensions, the buyer won't be charged postage due - you will simply be billed for it later. Though it may cost more than getting it right the first time.

Re: Shipping question

45371 to 64070 for box weight of 12.5 pounds measuring 13 x 6 x 8

i put all that information into the post office website for calculation and the price came up as $20.15

eBay ground advantage states 20.15 as well minus the 13.47 % discount for a total of $6.68

math is not my strong point, but this can’t be correct 🤔

Re: Shipping question

Shows me $20.15 retail minus a 60% discount for eBay price of $7.92. Which seems normal to me tbh. The higher the rates, the more the percentage discount gives you.

It's not correct. You should be seeing a rate of $7.92 with those parameters.

$7.92 is the cubic rate for a .40 cu box to that zone.

$6.68 is the cubic rate for a .20 cu box to that zone.

eBay charges whichever costs less between the cubic rate and the weighted rate. Dimensions are as important, often more so, than actual weight. Basically, you're saving $ by using a small package.

Make sure your dimensions are correct based on the outer box measurements @bbarney305 , then go ahead and buy the label.

$20.15 is the inflated retail price for 13 lb to zone 4 when you buy the label at the PO.
