Shipping label says 124.00

before everyone slams me for not understanding how it works I will admit I am lost.  I am shipping a VCR/DVD combo from Alabama to CA.  Why does my shipping label say 124.00?  And will it get adjusted to the correct amount once I scan the item at the post office?  I know, I should already know this, it’s only me 2nd item ever sold.

At the label purchase page you need to click on (move cursor to highlight and enter new dimension) each # to change the # for that dimension.

Re: Shipping label says 124.00

Sir I want to thank you.  Although I have two voids now which hopefully will get refunded I was able to go in and purchase another label changing the dimensions and the cost was 24.00.  Thank you so much.

Thank you for all of your help!  I have 2 voided labels but hopefully they will get refunded.  After I re entered the info it was much cheaper.  Thank you

but I didn’t fill out any of that.

Hi @dsdeal-1

That's what you fill out on the listing when you create it and use Calculated shipping so the Buyer pays you.  A 20 x 20 x 12 package is 4800 Cubic Inches which means you are being charged Dimensional weight.  That begins at 1728 Cubic Inches which is basically a 12 x 12 x 12 box.

Re: Shipping label says 124.00

" I was just hoping when they scan it at the post office I will tell them the dimensions and all of that is wrong and they would correct it."

Voice of experience NO NO NO!!!!

No- once they scan it, you "used" that postage and cannot void it.  (my learning mistake way back when)

They will not and cannot fix it for you.

It says 124.00 because that is what you were charged for that postage.

12 lbs zone 8 should be closer to 70 bucks priority or 50 bucks ground advantage.   Unless your package exceeds a square foot, then a size based additional charge kicks in.    Every inch makes a diffference.

DVD VCR with proper packing may very well be 20 x 16 x 7.....   (Over 1728 box volume inches)

Hate to break it to you, but you might be close to that 124.00 mark price wise with correct postage.

Trying to follow, if I read correctly this is the 2nd unit like this you sold and had no issue printing a 12 dollar lable.      You may be in for a bad experience on that one as well, if your postage and dimensions are wrong and they (USPS) catch it, you will get a charge out of the blue in the future for the difference.

Get a scale.  Find your shipping box,  plop the item in with packing and weigh / measure.    Sometimes cutting the box down by just an inch, or trimming box flaps just a tad, can save a lot.   Make sure you find the shipping details section when listing.   Enter the correct size/ weight.

There is an "edit" button thing that comes up when you go to purchase the lable, you can and should always click that and make sure it shows the right size and weight.

Do this before listing anything else please.

And, if you didn't get to the post office before they closed- and intend to ask questions- DO NOT  let them scan it first, or yep, your 124 bucks worth of screwed.

You cant ship 12 lbs to zone 8 priority for 12 bucks.     Even a medium flat rate box costs more than that.

Re: Shipping label says 124.00

dsdeal, are you on a computer or phone?

Sometimes I see drop down options on the computer that I can't for the life of me find on the phone.   Wondering if that is the issue.

Did you check the other carriers, like UPS ground?
