Sellers need to use alternative shipping methods besides USPS

TO ALL SELLERS!!! Please stop sending bulk packages via USPS during covid! Packages that normally take a few days are now taking 30 days or more! You can easily solve most of these issues using Fedex Or UPS.

Please try to educate yourself in regards to the USPS. Stop watching the fake news. The USPS isn't going anywhere. Fact - There is absolutely NO organization or company that could perform what the USPS performs daily. Not even Amazon, UPS, and FedEx combined.

Gee, luckily most businesses do not give in that easy.  You must not have been serious or had you had a flawed marketing plan. I have been here for over 20 years and this past year, even this month, has been my best ever.

Re: Sellers need to use alternative shipping methods besides USPS

It actually is highly cost effective and efficient. I live where the Toledo Plant closed several years ago. FYI - I am a retired Postmaster and Mgr of 33 years. It is the same with Post Offices. Any business has to scale its operations to be successful.  43,000 Post Offices in this country. Way too many and are always being reviewed and scaled back or closed. You cannot have PO's where less than 100 people get served from and be cost-effective and efficient. The same goes for processing plants. The Toledo plant was 60 miles from Detroit. Barring this pandemic, which no business could prepare for, the loss of this plant had very little negative impact on delivery services for the Toledo area. Those are the facts. But you can't appease everyone. Maybe for 55c you should have driven around all of your xmas cards. That should take you at least 1/2 to a full day.

You have 10 feedback for the past 12 months. Not really a bellwether of experience anyone would claim.

Yes, I had some slow moving sales.  All of my buyers were patient....in fact I think I annoyed a couple when I sent a message to let them know I was tracking their package.

FedEx - last package sent to me, FedEx coldn't figure out where I live.  Gee, UPS knows where I am, EMTs know where I am.  FedEx - nope.

FedEx - the package before that one was put in a grocery store bag and hung from my mailbox.  At least they found that.

Fed Ex - the package before that, sent signature required and was to arrive before 10am.  Arrived after 3 and was placed in a grocery bag and hung from the mailbox.  No signature obtained.  Why?   Because a previous resident signed a card saying if it was signature required, they didn't have to get a signature, and it applied to ALL residents of the household.   Not us, maybe the folks who lived here 19 years ago and were slow to pay some of their bills.

And OP wants me to ship to my customers via FedEX?  Really?

You must have had the same guys I had when I lived in town.  They'd call me, confused as to where I was. I would tell them that they're cross down from me - not northwest, I'm northeast.  A little while later, another phone call "We're at the corner of X and Y are you there?"  Lawdy.

I don't sell anymore but the packages we've bought so far this year have not taken long are all.  December was slow but it hasn't been bad in January.  We also shipped two packages Friday to friends that were delivered yesterday (Monday) and one return shipped back Thursday that was delivered yesterday as well.

Re: Sellers need to use alternative shipping methods besides USPS

4 items I sent out in late Dec and early Jan via USPS Priority Mail  have not been delivered, I have 2 "item not received" cases against me.

Yesterday someone bought an expensive item,  I was so nervous and wondered if I needed to  cancel the order,  but I decided to give UPS a try.  The package weighted about 5 lbs.  USPS Priority mail postage  is  $25,  UPS ground rate is  $13 --what a surprise, I thought UPS would be more expensive.

so,  UPS is not always more expensive, it depends on the weight and distance. make sure you compare the rates. and  if you dont like "item not received" disputes, paying extra shipping is worth it.

Re: Sellers need to use alternative shipping methods besides USPS

Actually I believe most people would prefer USPS.  I know what time my postman comes whereas with UPS and Fedex it's variable and so are the route drivers.   They can come as late as 9:00p.m.   Additionally they are the ones that lost my packages or delivered them to the wrong address.  You never stated exactly how many of your packages were 30+ days late as your profile doesn't show much in the way of purchases. It's  unreasonable to make a statement based on such a small experience sample.
