Hello,
I sold an item that had a local pickup offer which the buyer selected. It turns out the buyer is roughly 1200 miles away. I have messaged the buyer via eBay every day for the last 7 days since it they purchased the item and have gotten no response. I want to cancel the sale and relist, but I don't want to pay the fees. Looking at the report buyer options they all seem to indicate there is communication, and I don't want to make a false report. What are my options?

I'd cancel based on "Problem with buyer's address."

That was my first thought, and I started that process but stopped when I saw I would have to pay fees. I was hoping there was a way to avoid that as I have made numerous attempts to contact the buyer with no response.

No, cancelling using that as a reason will not cause you to have fees.
After you cancel, message your buyer again and explain why.
PS: Did they pay? Both of your sold items have the shipping option enabled.

When I do a................ "Problem with buyer's address."............. cancel, my "fees" (FVF) are refunded.
Possibly not the $0.30 transaction fee.
Upgrade fees, if any, likely not refunded.
Listing fees, if any, possibly may not be refunded.

You can also cancel with BUYER has NOT paid. And this will give them a well deserved mark on their record. The fees will be refunded and you also get the option at that moment to relist at no charge. The problem with this last option that you might not like the starting time of the ad which will be the same time that you are doing this. Personally, I never list in auction format unless it's nighttime.

They did pay, and for the last few days in my messages I have stated that if we cannot arrange a pickup or they could agree to request a cancel and I would relist and give them a chance to pick shipping, I would have to cancel the sale. I feel I have given them advance notice of my intentions. At any rate, I proceeded with cancelling the order myself using the address as the reason.
