My heart goes out to sellers significantly impacted by USPS shipping delays. I’ve had my share of worry about lack of scans at the post office, items stuck in limbo, potential INR’s, etc.. However, It is time for sellers to stop whining about the USPS and delivery delays. We’ve all had the opportunity and vent, but now is the time to act like functioning adults, take responsibility for our mistakes, and move on.
Let’s not pretend that sellers shipping mid-November and onwards didn’t understand that there might be issues with shipping delays. Come on – the first COVID lockdowns weren’t that long ago, and we all knew that B&M retail was taking a huge hit this year, and that the USPS/FedEx/UPS would be slammed. Me, I got a bit greedy – shipped media mail when I should have upgraded to priority, used the prepaid drop box instead of waiting in line for an actual scan, and waited a few days longer than I should have to put my store on vacation mode. Those mistakes are on me, not on my buyers, not on eBay, not on the USPS (no, I don’t want to join your sure-to-never-launch class action suit).
The same sellers that are adamant that they “own” their selling, and outraged that eBay would dictate MP, are now crying that eBay is siding with buyers on items that have been “lost” for several weeks and didn’t make it in time for Christmas? If you own it, own it. If not, take whatever comes your way, and stop complaining. Life happens - deal with it.
eBay is the facilitator – but we own our performance. We choose the carrier, we decide when to sell, we control pricing. If you can’t deal with it, absolutely, shut it down until the situation is accommodating to your selling constraints. Come on – let’s grow up, learn from our mistakes, and come back better than before.

everything is the seller's fault...
got it...

That was wrong. Now we are in Return this stupid/ugly/retarded Christmas Gift Phase. Then, lucky us, comes taxes.

If you went outside of eBay to arrange your shipment then that is on you.
Sellers who utilized the shipping tools that eBay provided for their use and shipped the item on time are in no way at fault for delays.
The buyer has a responsibility to know your shipping options and make a choice if they want to buy your item. As far as USPS, nothing has a guaranteed delivery date unless you pay for a Express Delivery Service. Everything else is a Estimate based on several factors.
I looked at one of my items to ship Priority Mail to my Zip 88310 (6 miles) and it says between Jan 11 - 13. I looked at the same item shipped to 10001 (near 2000 miles) and it says delivery between Jan 9 - 12. That is a very long time, so what is it that I could possibly do to shorten the shipping time?
You have a 5 day or longer handling time. That factors into the delivery dates.

check their status. Nothing listed for sale and only feedback is from sellers!
This is obviously a posting account, many people on here have them....

Hi,
I am a buyer and thought I would share two very different experiences with you which reflect what I as a buyer expect from online sellers, no matter the platform.
1st Experience-
I purchased several items online via a big name hardware store. All items were packed into a single box, which included a 12-pack of 4ft fluorescent tubes. A non-USPS delivery service placed the dented package on my front porch and left. I retrieved the dented package and yes, all bulbs were clearly broken inside the box. I contacted the store and without question or hesitation, initiated a return, a refund, and started a new order. Within days, different boxes arrived with undamaged and uncontaminated items, bulbs included!
2nd Experience-
I purchased a medical related item from an eBay CA seller on December 2nd, which left their warehouse on Dec. 3rd via USPS. The item last showed a scan on the 13th and the USPS site said the item would be late as of the 17th. It is now the 29th an no new activity has appeared. I am out the funds used to buy these items and had to adjust my budget to make another purchase elsewhere. As they buyer, I have no say in what can be filed with the USPS in regards to a lost package claim. That right goes to the seller. As it goes, I contacted the seller who has asked me to be patient, but has otherwise not done anything to help. No offer to ship a replacement via another service, no offer of a refund.
In both cases, I had no say in where the items shipped from, nor did I have a say in what carrier they were shipped by. Now, which of the two online purchases would you say I've had the best experience as a buyer?

I agree. I went on vacation mode the morning of Dec 8th as soon as I realized packages were taking much longer than usual and would only get worse. I've been doing other work since then and will resume selling on Ebay when thing get back to normal. Imagine how much worse it would be if sellers like me hadn't stopped shipping?!! It's bad enough as it is.

I fully agree it’s unreasonable to wait a month or more for an item.

Ummm .... USPS continuously ran television ads right up to and on 12/15 encouraging people to ship because they were delivering Christmas. None of those ads mention delays. None of those ads mentioned packages would be stored in warehouses and semi trailers to be off loaded and processed at a much later date. Buyers bought because they believed it, sellers shipped based on USPS advertising.
If you can't believe the USPS and eBay who can you believe? Exactly. (Tongue in cheek comment)
For what it's worth, I am waiting on packages shipped to me via USPS, UPS and Fed Ex as far back as November 28.
And I have about 30 packages I shipped USPS from 12/8 to 12/13 to be delivered.
May the world be a better place in 2021.

I saw the catastrophe coming hard and fast and switched to Fed Ex. I had zero problems with them. That also goes to show you how incredibly screwed up USPS really is. Fed Ex and UPS apparently had no problem hiring and retaining their staff. USPS TOTAL FAIL.

I agree, to a certain extent. There is a great benefit to being proactive-- I knew that there were likely to be at least some delays, so I made sure to get each and every package scanned when I dropped it off to make sure that I had proof it was mailed within my handling time (normally I just leave things on the counter if there is a line). I've still got three packages floating around out there, but I haven't heard a peep of complaint from the buyers because they can clearly see that it's in the mail stream and is just delayed. Should any of them contact me to ask where their package is, I will explain the postal delays and tell them I will file a "where's my package?" request for them.
Yes, there are delays. Yes, the delays are a pain in the *bleep*. But there are also things that we as sellers can do on our end to help head any problems off at the pass.

I would have to agree with what you said. Christmas time is a time of empathy and caring and forgiveness actually it should be like that all the time. People knowing full well about the delays in service should have altered their expectations as I did as a buyer. I just waited and ya know, I got all the stuff I ordered none lost just very late. Leaving sellers nasty feedback over this and God knows whatever else in the line of nastiness in their messages and general inpatience shows us what type of world we are living in. Thank God for the nice buyers who did wait and appreciate that they were able to get what they wanted on the internet during this horrible plaque.

I did not buy into their expensive ad on TV. They new they were in trouble but they needed to survive so they got a lot of cash for Christmas, but disappointed millions.

A source I have in Tampa stated that UPS overstaffed there. I had not one late delivery from UPS going anywhere
