has anyone had to actually keep an item that a seller won't take back? I recently bought an item and have no recourse to even exchange it or get anything akin to store credit, Ebay won't even hear about it, that's just disingenuous, I'm seriously considering not purchasing anything else from here anymore.

If you changed your mind or item does not fit, if seller has a no return policy, he is not obligated to accept a return. You saw his return policy before you bought the item.
What is the reason for the return?

You can open a return case on Paypal. Be sure to open one within 180 days.

Problem is I didn't use Paypal, I know, big mistake, i just open this topic to bring this problem into light, very easy for a seller to not accept returns, close the case, keep your money, and Ebay is just absent in all this.

No, I missed that part, in all the years shopping here I never had this problem, so I set myself up for that, now I just think it should not be allowed.

The reason for the return is it did not fit.

If the listing said no returns, I don't even ask if I can return. I read prior to purchase though. I just sell or gift the item.
And I purchase from sellers/platforms all the time that don't offer returns. No big deal to me. If I can't live with the terms, I just don't buy from them.

@wrenchslingingfher… "has anyone had to actually keep an item that a seller won't take back?"
I haven't heard of anyone in a long, long time.

Seller has a "No Return" policy and you're surprised that they won't take a Return? I'm confused on why this surprises you.

I have a "no returns" policy to deter buyers that think any item is a buy it/try it/returned it at the sellers expense. (initial shipping/my time/my listing fee/PP fees/my shipping materials)
I have accepted returns for buyer errors with a direct return by USPS, and refund minus my losses agreed upon before the return.
I understand how you feel, but taking someone else's money off the table sometimes isn't fair.

I'm not disputing ANY fees, I'm bent at the seller's lack of response and Ebay's absence in the matter, once the seller closes the return there is no recourse, I do a somewhat brisk business here, and yes, I clearly understand the obligation to pay for return shipping and/or restocking fees.

Well, congratulations on your excess of money, I, on the other hand don't have the money to be giving away to scoundrels and thieves, here or elsewhere.

Vainly expecting a common courtesy? Like store credit or something? These are used items after all, the door is open for rip-offs, that very same thing can have very damaging consequences down the line, I for one plan on not purchasing anything from Ebay anymore, not that I think it matters to confused people.

The door is not "open to rip-offs".
The "no returns accepted" policy only applies to remorse returns. Any legitimate return is covered by the eBay MBG.
