Seller Shipping 2021: Don't use USPS premium services

With all of the delays and disarray with/at the US Post Office, it is a waste of time and money shipping items using premium its since it is not scanning items and the they are delayed (or lost).

I go to USPS personally with the item, ensure I get a scanned receipt. However, I agree with the slowdown of shipping. I recently send a "Priority Mail Envelope 2-3 days", non-eBay related and it took 10+ days to be delivered.

USPS shipping options like Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, 1st class package mail, etc.

My mail person scans it and I get a receipt; however, that's where it stops.

Our customers think that we didn't send it to the post office for a pickup; it just shows that we sent "PRE-SHIPMENT INFO SENT USPS AWAITS ITEM".

@jackah4 Well that doesn't make sense, so I'm wondering if your mail carrier has the scanner set incorrectly? I take my packages to the post office and every one of my scans shows item received, date and time. So all of my buyers know the item has been sent. 

Why don't you take your next items directly to your PO and get them scanned there. Then check to see if the scan shows differently. This way you will verify that it is your mail carrier doing it incorrectly. Worth a try. Best of luck to you....

I take advantage of the postal pickup for several reasons: convenience, saves time and money, etc.

Note: I have a electronic receipt when it is scanned to prove I sent it on time; however, the scan at O'Hare does not show up for several days showing the customer that it is en route or that it has been accepted.

Also note: that the main issue is that the PO is delaying our mail; thus, it is a waste of money to send something premium mail.

Yeah this is what I'm going through right now. Sent a Priority Mail package out on 4/26 and had a postal clerk scan it and give me a receipt. It stopped scanning on 4/28. 

The expected delivery date shown at check out was today, 5/10. My buyer hasn't contacted me yet but it is very unnerving. It will be exactly 2 weeks since I sent my PRIORITY MAIL package out to my buyer. What an atrocity.

I always drop my packages at the post office in person and have observed the same as Jack. Our post office scans the package and gives a receipt, but the status on eBay will say "USPS awaits item" for several hours afterward.  A buyer looking at the eBay tracking would think that the seller is sitting on the package, so it's a little annoying. Hours later, the "USPS in possession of item" notation appears in the eBay tracking with the correct time stamp.

Here is an example: The item was sold on the 4th of May and picked up/scanned by the mail carrier on the 5th. Yet it does not show up into the system until the 9th. (What does the customer think?)
