Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

As long as I can remember ..   There was a "button" about 1/3 of the way down the listing (just above the description, on the right side)  that allowed you to choose one of 3 options for printing out your item listing.

I always printed out a copy of the listing and included it in the package with the item.  Today I went to do the same thing and the "Print" button was gone.   Why ?   This tool is of GREAT use.  I used it for EVERY sale I made.  I called eBay customer service and they had no answer.   The only suggestion was to do use the  "Print Screen" option on my computer.   This isn't as good as the eBay Print Listing because it includes info that isn't useful to the buyer and it doesn't leave the proper space I used to mark the item Paid In Full and a Thank You for your purchase note.

How can I / we let eBay know how important this button was ?  Any suggestions ?

Thanks in Advance,

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

The eBay Canada http://www.ebay.ca/ site has updated there site too so you cant print your Purchase History on there now either.
But on the Philippines site still has the print option on there Purchase History. The only problem is it converts all the prices to there currency.
At least you can still print 🙂

To use there site go to http://pages.ebay.ph/home/ & sign in, go to my ebay, Purchase History & you'll find the magic "print" option under the "edit" drop down box at the right of the Purchases Heading. Enjoy 🙂

Still I cant understand why Ebay would remove this option from, I believe, the most important pages. Because if you want to buy something that you've bought a few years back (because you cant see anymore than 2 years back in Purchase History) & dont want to do all the seaches again (i.e. -minus'ing all the things you dont want out of the searches) to find the best price, etc. At least you can quickly look thru your own printed version for the heading, etc.

I must give some credit to ebay tho. We didnt have the option to look at a few years in Purchase History before - well done 🙂

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

I am so glad to have found this thread. So it isn't just ME!

I have been going crazy with this. As many of you have already observed, when you buy something like an antique or a collectable it is quite a good idea to print off a copy of the original listing so that you have a record of the transaction and therefore some sort of provenance.

It is just loony that the powers-that-be at eBay should (without any explanation) suddenly stop you from doing this.

It isn't really obscure "feature" that has dropped off the system accidentally during an 'up-grade' to make room for something else; it is a really basic tool that has obviously been deliberately blocked.

Given that there are 14 pages and 600+ posts under this thread covering many months, it does not seem that eBay are in any way inclined to change their mind.

Maybe we should start voting with our feet and look at using competitor sites?

Maybe that will get their attention

I see that someone (half a dozen pages back) did actually get to speak to someone at eBay. [An amazing achievement in itself!]  They were given some nonsense about printing being 'against international law'. [I mean - sorry!] Credit to the guy who posted that in not buying that rubbish. Quite how can there be a "legal" probibition on printing off something that is distributed electronically? Copyright can't be the issuse. Particularly when it is a printed record of a transaction to which you are are party?

Is this some sort of 'Green' thing? If so, then we each take our own responsibility for what we do or do not print - this is not for eBay to decide generally - they are not paying for the paper and the ink.

All I can suggest is that we keep making a noise about this and keep on the steady dip, drip of persistent protest.

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

Oh My Goodness! I thought for a split second I was experiencing some kind of temporary memory loss. I spent literally an hour + trying to figure out how I did my listing print outs.
Some time had passed since I did my listing inventory (got too busy) and recently sought to catch up. To my shear frustration I could not figure it out. Finally after literally praying about it (yeh, I was that frustrated as these print outs are important to my business,) the thought came to me to ask Ebay. I thankfully found this question.
Thank YOU for ending my frustration. Now I don't have to check into the memory loss clinic, LOl!

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

"Canadian method"  ...and NOW the "Philippines method"- complete with LOCAL CURRENCY - Google to convert to other currencies please!  Honestly ,in the words of Littlejohn  (UK Daily Mail) you couldn't made it up. The lads and lasses at eBay must be seriously p*****g themselves in the canteen at elevenses laughing at us desperately scrabbling away  (Philippines eBay for God's sake) for ways to get around this problem.

Just to be clear . We all KNOW that we can print the original listing ,complete with ensemble various adverts included. What we CAN'T get is the printable listing option that shows a choice of ANY ONE or ALL of  the following....

"DISPLAY"  -        "LISTING SUMMARY"  -     "SELLERS DESCRIPTION" and of course  "LISTING IMAGES"

Honestly ,I do now belive it's all a waste of my mediocre typing talents !

Good night.

The "Canadian method", luckaly, still works and is still the most easiest method!

I'll repeat again what I've posted before:

1) Go to http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=xxxxxx and replace xxxxxx with the ID of the item.

note: use that URL exactly as that, do not remove or add any other parameters!

tip: bookmark that link without the xxxxxx

2) Scroll down and the "Print" button is still there next to the "Report item" button... (see first screenshots below)

No need to navigate very hard to remember paths and methods as some people have described in this thread.

No need to guess or do fancy stuff to get the track id.

It will work for ALL items, no matter if they are unsold, sold, completed, cancelled, won, not won, offered, watched, whatever...

Any other method is way more complicated, and above all: restricted to only certain statusses of items.

PS, last note: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=xxxxxx might also still work, but only for certain statusses of items, thus not for all, hence the use of the cga.ebay.ca domain which so far still works for all kind of items.

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

We're in the same situation and use the print button to create a "clean" copy for archiving purposes. It's a critically needed function for buyers.

My daughter found the print button. On the upper left of the item page you can click "View Purchased Item".  It will bring you to the print page.

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

Thank you for reposting the "Canadian" method.  It works for me (as of Aug 23, 2015).  I am a buyer and occassionally want to have a pdf version (not printed - yes save the trees) for items I am considering to purchase.  And if I miss or lose out on the sale of the item I can always go back to the pdf to use as comparison when a similar item comes up for sale in the furture.

You don't have to go to Canada to print an active listing.

As noted multiple times in this thread, most recently in post 222 on June 4 (and confirmed in post 224), you can still retrieve the old US format. Use this link; substitute your listing number in place of the xxxx to retrieve the old page format that has the Print link next to the "Report item" link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemVersion&item=xxxx

As also noted several times: unfortunatly that link does NOT work for ALL kind of items! Only for certain types of items (and depending from what country you've logged in) it still works. For other types of items the US TLD DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE!!!!!!!!! So, you still need to use the "Canadian" method, which isn't yet 'crippled' for certain items.

In short: always use the Canadian TLD instead.... no need to keep 2 (otherwise almost identical) links to get the same thing in ALL situations.

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

I found the print button for your purchased items. Go to the bidders history and click "More actions" on the far right of your winning bid. Then click on "View purchased item". Enjoy!

Re: Print listing button gone ! Why ? ? ?

That's fine -  and thank you. Now try doing it with an item that you have bought BIN. All you will get is the option to print the order details or the original listing complete with a load of attached msss adverts.

Maybe I'm wrong.    It has been known    ........too often actually..!!
