Potential deliberate USPS package delivery slowdowns.

During the past week or so, I have read a number of articles concerning the plans of the new Post Master General to deliberately slow down mail and package delivery...except for Amazon shipments.  The reasons being given for this

interruption of service are numerous and I have my own suspicions for the cause of this action, however, should intentional delays turn out to be the new norm, my question is this:  will eBay give consideration and not ding sellers metrics and reviews?  Is eBay even aware of this potential huge change?  I would love to see eBay address this matter.

They aren't going to get fired. The take your packages like they are doing you a favor because there is no fear of losing their job. I realize other areas may not be as harsh, but here in NYC there is not 1 ounce of service and you are always greeted with a scowl, as if I forced them to do any work at all. Likewise, it is a widespread rule in NYC that the letter carrier throw the rubber bands all over the floor, in front of everyone's houses and at the green boxes.

Re: Potential deliberate USPS package delivery slowdowns.

Everything I have shipped since July 20 has been delayed or lost.  I wish some news agency would report this so the sellers aren't blamed.  I have filed missing package reports on Priority items that were mailed on July 20, and have only been scanned the day after they arrived at the regional distribution center.  There has been no progress on any of the parcels.  Some of these delays are a result of Trump's new Postmaster General implementing new rules which have thrown a wrench into the works.  I don't think the Amazon angle is correct.

Follow up to my post, I used eBay on line assistant and an agent reviewed my case, The negatives were removed because I followed eBay guide lines and the delay was caused by the USPS. As far as closing for a while...... I think soon I need a break anyway.

That is exactly what I read.  In the last 10 days, I've noticed somewhat of a slowdown.  My most recent shipment left my local post office on the 24th and has just today reached a distribution center in Ohio.  Notified my buyer but as was mentioned...the buyer does not want to hear the reasons why, they just want their stuff.  From what I read yesterday (7/29) the post office is going to get funding however, the government will now have it's claws firmly attached.

Re: Potential deliberate USPS package delivery slowdowns.

eBay should address this matter.  On a different selling forum, 1st class packages which used to be delivered within 5 days are now sometimes taking 2 weeks or more for delivery.  I used to work for the PO and still have friends that work there.  Packages are sitting and sitting, with the "new" rules.  It's currently a mess, and I fear things won't be the same for awhile.  So, what I'm doing, is addressing the problem in my thank you email to my buyers.  Letting know, that in some instances, mail is slower right now.  I remind them on how they can check their delivery confirmation numbers to see where their items are at, in their postal travels.  I'm hoping this helps!

@thecoraltree   Do you have references for the article(s) you read?  If that is indeed the case then eBay should be in contact with USPS immediately kicking and screaming for equal treatment and possibly a lawsuit or two ...

Re: Potential deliberate USPS package delivery slowdowns.

I shut my listings down because I have 6 packages currently held up. They were all shipped the day after payment. One is a high value item, that was shipped priority and has been delayed for 2 weeks now. I messaged them but I am scared it will continue to be late and I will be out the money and the item.

Have not heard from the other customers yet even though I messaged them. I have never experienced anything like this before with USPS. Hope all yours show up.

Every large seller account gets a discount with USPS. However, Amazon gets special favoritism and perks that no one else does, and this is the root of the problem.

USPS does last-mile delivery for Amazon of items that are already pre-sorted and palleted - it's almost like bound printed matter only parcels. Amazon has the same deal as the other large internet companies - it's against the law for USPS to ship any parcel for less than cost - according to the USPS, they're actually making money on this.

The pre-funding is the problem and the senate's big butt sitting on the bill already passed to get rid of that and institute a sensible pension plan is the answer - but that's not politically expedient, or the new PMG is too dumb to know how that works.  Whatever, it's just bad, sloppy, clueless management.

Mail carriers don't work out of distribution centers but post offices. The media is always reporting half-ass facts. The new PMG is trying to right the ship from sinking but the employees are fighting the change, especially the carriers. Afraid they will lose their precious overtime!

Re: Potential deliberate USPS package delivery slowdowns.

international packages are taking 2-3 months to be delivered.  USPS Priority Mail are taking 10 days + sometimes.  In 25 years of using the USPS, I've never seen such delays that have come up this month. I can understand a parcel here and there being delayed, but not 10 + parcels all shipped within a few days of each other.
