Post offie put wrong shipping label on 2 boxers.Buyer #1 contacted me to inform me of contents, which was similar to Buyer #2 purchase. I had buyer #2 refuse shipment so it would come back to me for free. Since I offered free shipping and buyer #2 shipping cost 22.00 plus ebay fees, once I receive back can I just refund him him money for items as the cost to reship back to both will give me more then a total loss. Thank you

I don't understand how the post office put the wrong shipping labels on the boxes.

Whether it was you or the post office who were at fault, I don't see why the buyer shouldn't receive what they paid you for. You should reship to the buyer since they have not asked to cancel.

Sounds like you made a mistake.

I was trying to figure that one out too 😞 Now I've made a mistake or two (2) on zip codes in which the PO corrected it for me, but labels? Nope.

I used post office which I never do but wanted to be certain of price, weight and size of box. The clerk was ditzy and I should of doubled checked her.

You can be certain of the price, weight, and size at home.

Why would the post office be putting the shipping labels on your shipments?

I'm sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense. Why didn't you bring your packages to the PO counter with the correct labels already affixed to each box?
Even your own story, implausible as it is, confirms your negligence.
My money is on you mistakenly affixing the wrong address to each box, so that each buyer got the other's items. Which in fact, is nothing to be overly embarrassed about; I've made that mistake a couple of times in my career, and other sellers will admit to it as well.

Every post office I've ever been to has required that the ship to and from addresses are complete and labeled on the package by me before they print postage and affix it to the parcel. They have nothing to do with affixing an address label.
@527bats If you cancel the orders and refund you will receive defects on your account. It's better to re-ship and accept the loss and try not to make the same mistake again. As others have said... we've all been there at some point. It's not the buyer's fault and their order should be honored.

1. You have to take full ownership of the shipping address issue. The PO had nothing to do with this mess up.
2. You need to make your buyers whole and refund them the total amount they paid and you eat the losses. It seems to me you need to issue a return label to buyer #1 promptly as they did not get exactly what they paid for only something "similar". When it is returned you issue a a full return. Asking buyer #2 to "refuse" shipment wasn't appropriate on you part as it puts the buyer in jeopardy of not getting a refund. You should have issued them a return label. USPS returns can take extra time to get back to you. You may want to consider issuing a refund now vs. making the buyer wait as they already have been disappointed.
3. I have shipped many hand bags from the east coast (GA) to the far west coast states & never paid $22.00 for a shipping label - $10-12 at best.
4. Once you get these issues straightened out with the buyers you will earn two defect on your selling account. Not a real good thing.
Good Luck.

I haven't been to a PO to ship a package in so long, I can't even remember ... do they print the full sized label with the addresses and barcode? Or do they only print the narrow postage tape label?
