I had a package returned to me marked Insufficient Address. I only purchase postage through ebay so it went to the address on file for the customer. I would like to refund the $7.00 cost of the item to the customer because he didn't get it, but do I have to refund the postage because I mailed the item and used the postage in good faith that his registered address was correct? The cost of the postage was $21.51. Please let me know as soon as possible. I do not like to have something like this waiting to be resolved. Thank you.

I would wait until buyer contacts you.
If buyer is not longer a registered used the refund goes where?
I get returns as well. I usually don't get any responses from the buyer.

When a buyer has submitted an inaccurate, incomplete or otherwise undeliverable address and that's where you shipped, you aren't obligated to refund anything. However most honorable sellers will refund the buyer after deducting any costs. If and when you refund, you only refund the item price less your fees, shipping, etc.

Thank you! That was what I was thinking. I did not think I should be obligated to refund the postage, because I had used it shipping to the registered ebay address

As long as you shipped to the address provided within ebay, and the item cant be delivered because of "insufficient address", you are not obligated to refund any postage.
Keep in mind, some of these insufficient addresses may be ligit, too, but for whatever reason at that time the package was undeliverable, and that is the responsibility of the buyer to figure out with their mail service. You only care that you shipped to the address provided and it was undeliverable and came back to you

I have had that several times. I am not a high volume seller, so I jeep track of the packages. I have contacted the buyer and the delivering post office to hold for the buyer instead of returning it.
