New Shipping Label?

What is the new QR code below the actual shipping label?  It just started appearing on my labels this morning.

Re: New Shipping Label?

See it on mine too today for the first time. I have two small codes. One by the buyer's address and the other below the shipping label. ???

Re: New Shipping Label?

Yep, there on all of mine as well, but this new format (while using bulk printing) for some reason didn't print my "Custom Label / SKU" on the shipping labels so now I'm having to work off of a pick list for 50+ items, which isn't the end of the world for a day but I REALLY hope this option to print he SKU on the labels isn't gone completely, it's a real time saver! I hope it just defaulted off with the new format update and I can turn it back on. I can't check right now because I have no orders, but if I remember, I'll update this tomorrow!

The traditional bar code only reads the tracking number. The QR code (QR stands for Quick Response) can bring up massive amounts of information. Can't be sure exactly what the P O is using them for but they can be read by a computer to, for example, display a complete tracking history, along with the ship from and ship to information, the routing path, and the weight and size of the package, and who knows what else. All that information feeds instantly into a computer enabling automatic sorting. AI is taking over.

QR codes can also be used to instantly access a specific web site which is why you see them on TV ads, newspaper ads and who knows where else.  You will note you are being prompted to scan them with your super fancy phone which gives the advertisers an immediate response to their ads.

Re: New Shipping Label?

Hello,

I used my celfon just to know what is this code for........advertisements! they changed every hour maybe coz at first its about downloading applications......then later...."STORAGE INVESTOR NATION".  Advertisement in every customer's labels.  How about our own ebay store qr code printed instead of others?

Re: New Shipping Label?

That seems strange. Why would they bother with the advertisement when the potential is to be seen only by ONE or max two people, the recipients, where there is a zero chance that they would bother to pull out the phone and scan the QR code. I want to open the package and see the product I ordered and trash the box.

Re: New Shipping Label?

When you trim your label, do you cut off that one below the label?

Re: New Shipping Label?

Or can we just Sharpie them out?

Re: New Shipping Label?

Yes, and a whiteout swipe (or sharpie) through the other.

They can get OFF a label I paid for.

That doesn't make sense @bella_beauty_supplier. Are you saying you scanned the QR code with your phone's camera and advertisements popped up? Did you have any other apps or browsers open at the time?

My phone's camera did not recognize the QR code because it's intended for USPS equipment, not the average smartphone.

Thinking that your post is missing some key information and that the ads came from somewhere else.

Re: New Shipping Label?

Hello, I have been selling or buying on eBay for over 26 years. This QR code is a bunch of crap. I was dinged twice on my Seller Account because I sold two items that were picked up at my home in person. eBay said because no shipping label or tracking was provided they had no proof of delivery, and that I should have downloaded the QR App on my phone to prove delivery.  One item positive feedback was posted two hours after the customer picke it up. The second order positive feedback was posted the next day. I phone eBay Support two different times and they said they could not remove the defects.  I am 81 years old, and I use my phone for phone calls only. I do not use my phone for any apps. Leo, clothesusa in Boise, Idaho.

I wrote the following letter to the CEO of eBay and here is there answer.

Hello Leo,

Thanks for reaching out to eBay’s Executive Office. We understand your concern is regarding your two local pickup orders that are now showing on your tracking uploaded on time and validated report. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this detailed information, and we understand how important your account performance is to you. We are happy to offer more details on what led to this, what options are available, and how to move forward.

As you are likely aware, expectations within ecommerce are rising and buyers expect a high level of service when shopping. In today’s environment, consumer satisfaction is paramount to a seller’s success. At eBay, we’re committed to helping you succeed in this competitive environment. That is why we keep close tabs on the rapidly evolving e-commerce landscape and make updates as needed to help you deliver what buyers want. We conduct ongoing research to understand and respond to what most influences buyer purchasing behavior. Your seller dashboard shares detailed information from your account with a key focus on the areas that matter most to buyers.

The top of the seller performance summary on your seller dashboard provides you with high-level information and the tools to filter what detailed information you want to see. Drilling down into the seller performance summary provides you with the details. This includes your performance, transaction defect rate, late shipment rate, cases closed without seller resolution, tracking uploaded, and transactions and sales. You can also view a monthly breakdown of data and create reports.

The decision to not use tracking on an order can save shipping costs but may also leave you unable to confirm that an item was shipped on time. The tracking uploaded/carrier validation requirement verifies if sellers are providing the means for buyers to track shipments to their destinations. Naturally, if an item is picked up locally, tracking is not going to be available, thus they show for this metric on your seller dashboard. While these transactions are unable to be removed from this report, please know the tracking uploaded on time and validated metric is not a requirement to remain above standard. There is a lookback period of 3 months, and once the transactions have exceeded that amount of time, they are automatically removed from this report.

For future reference, I would like to supply you with the right tools to ensure this does not continue to happen. In these situations, we encourage sellers to use the eBay mobile app to scan a buyer’s QR code during local pickup to confirm that the item was successfully received by the buyer. This is not mandatory but is a benefit to both buyer and seller to show that the transaction was completed.

This works by providing the buyer a 6-digit code and a QR code in their email messages after their purchase to show to the seller upon meetup to scan in their eBay application. You can access the feature to add the 6-digit code or scan the QR code in either My eBay Selling by clicking on the “Arrange Pickup” banner or by clicking on the item in their sold items on the app and clicking on the “Scan to confirm pickup” button on the Closed View Item page.

Once the QR code is scanned it provides a confirmed delivery tracking event. This marks the item as delivered. The funds release depends on seller standards, policies, markets, and other seller account related activities. Using this feature (rather than asking the buyer to leave feedback upon receipt) can release the funds earlier, but it is not required that sellers scan QR codes. Please note that in order to utilize this feature, sellers must use their mobile app to scan the QR code or enter in the 6-digit code. There is currently not a desktop version.

I understand this may not fully be the outcome you were expecting, but I appreciate you allowing us the opportunity to address your concerns.

Wishing you all the best.

Jessica Holmes
