I bought a Gucci bag from a seller based in Brooklyn and received a fake version of the bag that did not match item photos and was shipped from Hong Kong. I requested a return on the basis that the item is a fake and the seller accepted. I was later notified that the seller would not be purchasing a return label. The seller hasn’t messaged me back and I’m not sure how to return the item. eBay says to return it to the Brooklyn address but I don’t have any information about the seller. No name or anything and since the item was shipped from Hong Kong the Brooklyn address is likely fake.
Does anyone know what my next step should be?
What’s the best way to return it and get my money back?

Because you are in Iceland, Ebay cannot force theseller to furnish you a shipping label. You are only responsible for returning that bag to the Brooklyn address, you can find all the info at PP. be sure and use delivery confirmation, and if the bag was over $750...signature confirmation.

The seller is required to pay for return shipping but can't provide a label because this is an international transaction. You need to ask the seller to send you the return shipping money through paypal and then contact customer service & tell them the seller hasn't paid for return shipping. They are supposed to put the case on hold for a few days to give the seller more time to pay for return shipping and if he doesn't, you will get a full refund without returning the bag. Also, you are only responsible for returning the bag to the US since thats the item location on the listing. Seller can't require you to return to hong kong.

Is what a new policy? The MBG has always required ALL sellers to pay for return shipping on SNADs and buyers have not, for many years now, been required to return anywhere other than the item location. On international SNADs the seller has always been responsible for return shipping but it has taken some time for eBay to enforce that policy (mostly because of the issue of how the seller would pay when eBay can't issue a label) and what I described in my first response is how they handle it when the seller can't provide a label.

Uh,this is what I was referring to,regarding international transactions:
"You need to ask the seller to send you the return shipping money through paypal and then contact customer service & tell them the seller hasn't paid for return shipping. They are supposed to put the case on hold for a few days to give the seller more time to pay for return shipping and if he doesn't, you will get a full refund without returning the bag".
My friend just had to return an item to an international seller, and was told neither Ebay or PP could force the seller to pay for the label..so Im a little confused. She paid for return shipping. How long has this policy been in effect? Was it in Announcements,if it was I didnt see it.

Who told your friend that? It's been written eBay policy since 2014 that the seller pays for return shipping on SNADs, international transactions NOT EXCLUDED. Customer service may have given your friend incorrect information. PayPal doesn't make the seller pay for return shipping. The MBG specifically states that a return may not be required when the seller refuses to pay for return shipping so that is the policy that comes into play when the seller fails to pay for return shipping.

Yes, Clearly she was misinformed,I believe by PP, but Ill have to ask her.,it was a few months ago.I appreciate the information.

When a seller pays for return shipping --
the seller can have the item returned to any address in any country.
You are being misled.

Excuse me?

Yes, Clearly she was misinformed,I believe by PP,
If your friend opened the dispute on PP, then they would have been required to pay return shipping.
I doubt many PP reps know ebay's policy regarding int'l returns and who pays return shipping.
Of course if your friend was told this by an ebay rep, I certainly wouldn't be surprised either.

No, me either..she did go thru PP, and of course the buyer is always required to pay return shipping..and evidently was not told by the rep about Ebays mbg for return international shipping..lesson learned.

The seller is no longer a registered user. I have no further info about them and no way of contacting them. Do I still just ship the bag to the address I have? How do I enforce my refund?
