Item missing at UPS Access Point

An item I purchased on eBay has been marked "delivered", but according to UPS it was delivered only to a UPS Access Point, which is a local supermarket. I went there to pick it up but they couldn't find it! Now what? How does this go on from here? Tomorrow I'm planning to call UPS to complain, but what if they still can't find it?

That can't be so... Lately UPS has been delivering all my packages there. Does that mean I no longer have any protection in case the supermarket loses them?

Why is UPS delivering your packages to a supermarket instead of your home address?

Why is the supermarket accepting packages for you?

UPS has stores in supermarkets now.....that could be the case here.

Re: Item missing at UPS Access Point

Oh, I get it. So UPS was supposed to deliver to the supermarket as part of an existing arrangement. I wondered if that was the case, but that wasn't clear from your first posts.

In that case, I understand why eBay says that the package was Delivered. From the point of view of Seller Protection, it is considered Delivered when UPS left it with the supermarket. The arrangement with the supermarket to accept UPS packages for you is not the seller's doing.

Actually, an arrangement like this probably works out for the best for you in the long run. You had a scare this time, but it's safer to leave packages at a place of business that can keep them secure than out in the open on your doorstep.

Re: Item missing at UPS Access Point

Seems it's not delivered to the supermarket --

it's in-transit at the supermarket --

to be delivered.

@... guy (not going to have my phone voice-type the first word)

It's the reverse at a postal store --

the package is in-transit after it is dropped off there.

Re: Item missing at UPS Access Point

I understand that UPS is considering in-transit when it's delivered to the supermarket drop-off. But the OP is wondering why eBay seems to consider it delivered, and I suspect that eBay would consider at as Delivered for purposes of Seller Protection.

Re: Item missing at UPS Access Point

Chorus of eBay bots singing: "If I only ha[ve] a brain ..."

Unfortunately, in their defense --

it has to say delivered for the seller metrics --

like it says delivered for a PO Box that isn't picked up for days.

So what to do if tracking says --

delivered at 7 am on a Saturday to a PO Box --

and it isn't in the PO Box, even days later? (This actually happened.)

GPS of course shows it was delivered inside the post office, duh.
