Hey, I'm pretty new to ebay so I have never encountered this problem before and i'm not so sure what to do. I bought a bag on 02/01/2018, and never got a notification saying my item got shipped. The listing got removed around 2-3 days after bought it and i'm worried I will not be able to receive it since the listing got removed. It's been around a bit more than 2 weeks since, and I still havent received it (it was meant to ship from America from Australia). Do you think I will still potentially receive it?
I tried to get a refund but ebay said that I cannot for this item and that I should contact the seller. I contacted the seller about a week ago asking about my item and they never replied.
What should I do? Wait it out another week? And if it never arrives, how do I get a refund?
Thanks

The bag was most likely counterfeit and will not be coming.
Go to Paypal, find the transaction and file for a refund. Not sure exactly how it works, but if asked why you want a refund tell them the item was removed by Ebay.
Someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong about this.
May I ask what brand it was?

While I am no expert, however, I do believe that you must file with eBay first, but only after the last expected delivery date.
I think that it works insofar as returns/refunds to follow the protocol that is in place: eBay first, then PayPal.
If it was removed, it could have possibly been shipped anyway. You may be able to request the refund from eBay now (since it was removed) but I think you have to wait for the expected delivery date first, then one day after the expected arrival date.
You will get the total refund, but you need to wait for one day after the expected delivery date

While a listing can be removed for a variety of reasons, we would provide direction to visit the resolution center to open the appropriate case once this becomes an option.
However, when OP eventually is directed to visit the resolution center --
using the removed listing number to open the appropriate case --
eBay will notify OP with this error message:
Looks like you're not buying or selling this item. Choose another item, or look up an item number in My eBay.
Why does the Resolution Center reject a removed listing number?
Hundreds of buyers are affected when eBay removes a seller's listings.
Now buyers, one by one, must call Customer Support to open a case --
because buyers can't open cases themselves on removed listings.

Hi @sandrso93 - it looks like your payment is still pending and this is why you are not able to pursue protection options through the eBay Money Back Gaurantee. If the payment was completed and the latest estimated delivery date had passed, an item not received request could be opened. Since payment is pending, we are not able to investigated for reversal of the funds. It is possible that PayPal may have more options and can help reclaim the processing payment at this time, so I recommend you reach out to them to explore your options.
@hafoster@, if you run across any instances where a buyer shares an error message like the one you described, I'd love to be @mentioned so I can investigate for enhancements to our messaging. It does look like the wording provided in this situation is, "PayPal reports that we can't open a case for this item." This is the message provided when the payment was not made, is currently pending or a PayPal case/financial institution chargeback has already been filed.

Paid > Listing removed > Can't open case in Resolution Center

Enhancing the messaging on removed listings --
to direct hundreds of buyers to call eBay --
might not be a good solution.

There is no requirement that the buyer must file with eBay first 🙂
Its best to file with eBay first that way there is another layer of protection with PayPal if need be but in this situation OP can’t file with eBay because her PayPal payment is either pending or unclaimed 🙂

You did not buy a bag on February 1.

Hi @sam9876, the OP is actually using the common date format for most international countries. The day of the month comes first, then the month, then the year. 02/01/2018 would be January 2nd.
@hafoster Thank you so much for these examples! I'm sharing them with the content teams for review. Don't hesitate to get me any others that you feel portray how this messaging has caused confusion or where the steps could not be followed as we provided them.
