INR claim, Tracking says buyers address is incorrect.

Hey everyone, Im having a bit of an issue with an item I sold a little while ago.

I sold a bumper to a customer in Seattle, the other day the buyer opened a INR claim stating he hasnt recieved his item yet.

A quick check of the tracking shows on USPS website: "USPS was unable to deliver your item as of 9:44 am on December 8, 2017 in SEATTLE, WA 98108. The address may be incorrect, incomplete, or illegible."

And on the Canada Post Website: "Recipient not located at address provided. Item being returned to sender."

When I search the address he provided the only mistake in the address I can see is in the Information in the ebay sales record the street is printed as 18th AVE S, When the map I look at shows its 18th Ave SW, would this be enough to not deliver the parcel?

The buyer is demanding a full refund now, But I dont have my item back yet.

Ive tried to communicate with the buyer, and asked him to call his local PO on the chance that maybe its still there waiting to be returned/picked up by the buyer, but the buyer isnt communicating with me.

What would be the proper way to handle this return? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Item was sent with free shipping, from my understanding I cannot charge the original shipping because of this? not sure if this is correct just what i was under the impression of.

I normally charge a 15% restock fee to recoup as much of the shipping as possible but I dont see an option for it in the claim. Would suck to be out close to $80 for the shipping because of a bad address.

You cant charge a restocking fee on a INR. Call ebay and see if they will close the case since buyer gave a bad address. If they close it, issue a partial refund less your restocking fee.

That's what I do.   Buyers need to update their addresses or they will end up learning the hard way to do it ASAP.

@usedautopartsmanitoba  You shipped it to the address the buyer gave you.   They are responsible for making sure their address is valid and items can be delivered there.    They cannot open an INR when they give a bad address.  DO NOT REFUND ANYTHING YET.  Upload the tracking number to the case so that eBAy can see that it is being returned to you.   Then call eBay to get them to close the case.  Once you have the item back, then you go through PayPal and give the buyer a PARTIAL REFUND  (after you subtract how much was for shipping and other fees).

OK kids, time to get the Dodge loaded up again. I hear 'Poppy's By the Tree' calling. This trip might be a long one too.

General consensus is usually once you have the item back, refund the item price only, but not the shipping.

That might be just enough to confuse USPS. Oftentimes, experienced people at a local post office can figure it out, but not always.

It's the buyer's responsibility to provide a functional mailing address, so I would not refund until the item is returned to you. However, international return-to-sender can take weeks, if not months (maybe the delay for US back to Canada isn't so bad, but such packages get low priority). If the buyer files an Item Not Received dispute, you should be protected because USPS tracking shows that the buyer provided a bad address.

I don't have any advice on how to refund him, but if you want to issue a partial refund, you can do it through the PayPal transaction page. The refund form allows you to manually fill in the amount.

Just a quick update, called eBay and they closed the case. Will refund the buyer minus my restock fee as soon as the other item arrives.

Re: INR claim, Tracking says buyers address is incorrect.

Call and have the INR closed for the buyer giving a bad address.

BBL.

Give the buyer an opportunity to pay the cost to re-ship it to them. If they don't want to go on about your business until they do.

They have already voided the MBG so your ebay responsibilities are at an end.
