I think USPS Loss my Customer's Order

Subject: Assistance Needed – Lost Package Case with USPS

I have shipped out an order to a customer that appears to be lost in transit. This afternoon, I contacted USPS and opened a case to help locate the missing package. The case number is 74179259, and USPS has informed me that they will follow up within 2-3 business days.

I wanted to notify eBay of this situation and ask for guidance on the next steps. Since I will be on vacation from February 15th–23rd, 2025, I would like to ensure that I handle this matter appropriately before I leave. Could you please advise on the best course of action in case the package remains lost?

I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your response.

Thank you,

Katrine Houston, Business Owner of Cathy Flea Market

This is a public peer forum, not eBay customer service.

On what date did you ship?

On what date was the last tracking scan (actual scan, not just 'in transit arriving late')?

Has the buyer filed a non-receipt claim?

Walk without rhythm, it won't attract the worm.

Re: I think USPS Loss my Customer's Order

If the package remains lost and the buyer files an item not received claim, you must refund in the appropriate time or receive a demerit for unresolved dispute.

You can the file an insurance claim with USPS,

There is nothing you can do in advance of the problem other than refund.

Often the package locate request will shake it loose. If not, well you may have a problem.

Re: I think USPS Loss my Customer's Order

What you can do, is contact the buyer, let them know you are aware it hasn't arrived and that you are in contact with the USPS as to the packages where abouts.    Also, re-state to the buyer they are protected with ebay's money back guarantee  if the package doesn't arrive, and you can file a "item-not received" case within the 30 days of the expected delivery.    Let them know you will be on vacation, so we will get this resolved before 2/15.    Thank you for you patience.

Once you receive more info from USPS, pass that along to the buyer.  You want to let the buyer know you are looking out for them and their money

Okay, in your case, the post office that handles the area where your package should be delivered will contact you with a response, likely a canned one unless there is a scan before hand.  If still bad, file a Missing Mail Search, that is better.  If still bad, file an Insurance Claim showing proof of the value of the contents, and they will send you a check if approved in your favor.  Contact the Buyer with updates, and keep track of the tracking, eventually something will hopefully appear.  USPS pretty bad this Christmas Season and they are back to being bad after Christmas.  No surprise.

Hello,

It appears that USPS loss the package so I went ahead and refunded the customer.

Thank you for your follow up response.
