How to file a shipping damage claim with UPS to get $100 ?

I understand UPS only insures upto $100 if you don't buy any insurance. I bought my UPS label through ebay. I believe this is steps I need to follow:

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/shipcover/shipping-insurance-shipcover?id=4643

But I am not sure if these steps are if you already purchased insurance? Because that page says UPS will reimburse up to $999 or something..

My item got damaged in transit. Some metal actually got dented implying it impacted something else hard during the transit.. However I don't have pictures of how it was packed.. Will UPS really care for just a $100 reimbursement? My hope is they approve the $100 request since it's my first time with them requesting a damage coverage..

Unfortunately, UPS will pay eBay the $100 after you do all the work to get your claim approved, since eBay not you owns the UPS account.

Hi, that is a link to ShipCover insurance, which is insurance offered by eBay when you buy and print USPS labels on eBay. You can purchase either ShipCover or USPS insurance separately when you ship an item domestically.

If you shipped your item USPS Priority Mail, your package is automatically insured up to $50 or $100 (depending on your seller level).

If you use UPS or FedEx to ship an item, you're insured up to $100 (supposedly, requires much more explanation). How did you ship the item?

I shipped it via UPS, but label was purchased through ebay.

Oops, my bad - I just realized there is a small section at the bottom with UPS and FedEx info.

"Will UPS really care for just a $100 reimbursement?"

Receiving a payout for a claim with UPS on a damaged item seems to be a rather difficult process, I would highly recommend reviewing the many posts from other sellers that have been where you are. You might be able to figure out the best way to go about it.

Re: How to file a shipping damage claim with UPS to get $100 ?

So I just spent almost an hour filling out the lengthy excel claims damage form. I also attached two pictures of the damage. It seems they want seven highly specific pictures which I don't have.  Let's see if they agree to any kind of payout with the limited info. I sent them... Not hopeful , but crossing my fingers...

I am assuming that I have to have the broken item sent back to me or hope the buyer does all the pictures.  UPS is pretty specific about all the pictures they want.  What is your experience with this?  Do you ask the buyer to take pictures and message them to you?
