How to Dispute Shipping Adjustment

I just got charged $22 for a UPS shipping adjustment, I want to dispute this charge. No reason is given and I correctly weigh and measure all packages before shipping.

Re: How to Dispute Shipping Adjustment

That was a surcharge charge from UPS. eBay has nothing to do with it. Contact UPS.

That is also the charge amount for an address adjustment by UPS, it is a possible reason when your weight and size are correct.

@ntggoods

There are numerous UPS surcharges that may be applied to the cost after purchasing a label from eBay that does not take into account such surcharges.

To appeal that with eBay it would be best to determine why the surcharge was applied before appealing.

Re: How to Dispute Shipping Adjustment

Was this for the poster @ntggoods and did you ship it in a round tube? If so, that is the explanation for the cost adjustment and it would be pointless to dispute since it's a legit charge.

eBay's shipping calc factors in surcharges based on weight/dim, but not for nonstandard packaging. There are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx that are not factored in until the carrier physically reviews the package.

View the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Does it say "additional handling"? That's an indicator of a nonstandard packing surcharge.

Re: How to Dispute Shipping Adjustment

I shipped a poster tube contained in a box. Is there seriously an extra $22.90 because the box is too long? I'm aware of irregular packaging surcharges which is why I ship in a box rather than a tube.

Re: How to Dispute Shipping Adjustment

I bought the label through eBay, which means they are the UPS account holder, which should mean they should be responsible or at least act as a intermediary between me and UPS.

How would I actually appeal, before I could've sworn there was an easy way to dispute adjustments...

Was the cost adjustment for the poster? If it was, and if you shipped in a box, then I don't know the exact trigger for the surcharge. It wouldn't be for length unless the cost adjustment shows you UPS found different dimensions from what you entered. eBay's calc already factors in surcharges for dimensions and weight, so more likely the adjustment is for packaging.

Post a screenshot of the cost adjustment if you can - with that bottom right cost breakdown section expanded.

You can attempt to dispute the charge. Since the label was purchased using eBay's UPS account, the only way to do that is contact eBay CS and have them file the dispute. Unfortunately there's no easy process.
