How do I pay less for shipping and postage?

I am an 18 year old that has been selling on eBay for about 2 months. I barely make money because about half of what I make goes to shipping and postage because I like to offer free shipping on most of my listings. I was wondering if anyone knows a cheaper way to pay for shipping and postage. I use Office Depot as my main place for shipping and for boxes and bubble mailer envelopes.

Hi, You want to start by shipping via the eBay shipping program so you can save money through eBay business discounts. Keep an eye out for opportunities to get free shipping supplies through family and friends. Most are happy to save supplies if you pick it up in a timely manner.

@retroresellerz

The receiving department at most Barnes & Noble stores will give you free shipping supplies Monday through Friday -- check with the receiving manager after 12:00 Noon, as they are very busy in the morning hours.

B&N can supply you with plastic packaging, plastic peanuts, sturdy cardboard boxes, etc -- which the store would otherwise be recycling for a fee.

And purchase your postage through eBay or Pirate Ship or another postage retailer -- you will save lotsa $$$ over what the post office actually charges.

Finally -- raise your prices, if you're not currently making a profit.

And reconsider "free" shipping -- it just ain't "free," is it?
