Helpful hint #1 Packaging

Most sellers (mostly small time sellers) should always make sure to have adequate packaging

BEFORE listing any items that require secure packing.

Seller lists a glass vase.

The glass vase sells.

(Remember that Ebay requires you to ship item next business day)

Guess what...you don't have the box or means of packaging the

vase for secure shipping.

With that in mind you may be stuck scrambling around for a box and

packing material.

If you rush and just pack the vase poorly then it is likely the vase will

arrive to the buyer in pieces. Need I say more?

Just remember this helpful hint the next time you list something

that will probably sell.

Not sure what makes you think that.... sellers set their own S&H time, it can be up to 30 days if I remember correctly.

Good hint for new sellers but

(Remember that Ebay requires you to ship item next business day)

isn't necessarily true...........Ebay requires you to ship within your handling time......which a seller chooses when he lists.

Thank you for your very helpful hint.  Dually noted.

Re: Helpful hint #1 Packaging

I think most experienced sellers already know this, but thanks for the tip.

Also, sellers DO NOT have to ship the next day.

It depends on what their handling time is.

Re: Helpful hint #1 Packaging

Ebay does NOT require you to ship the next business day.  Every seller decides when they ship.  Anyway, it's great advice no matter how the seller set their shipping preferences.  I will NOT list anything unless I already have the box and the packing materials. Sellers also need a postal scale and a measuring tape too so that they can figure out the shipping.

No they don't. This is false information.

Gosh, eBay doesn't require me (my selling ID) to ship my sold items the next business day.
They require me to ship my sold items within two business days after payment is confirmed.
I bought something here a couple days ago, and eBay requires the seller of that item to ship within three business days.

Why?  Because those handling times are what we told eBay we would do !

Re: Helpful hint #1 Packaging

A person can always just run to a Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, Staples, USPS or nearest UPS store the day after it sells, buy a box, some bubble wrap and stop by the post office or go home, print a label and take it to the post office-

Even if that seller HAS next day 'shipping' chosen.

Ok. Ebay does NOT REQUIRE next day shipping.

Got it!

Same. In fact, I have a whole bunch of things I haven't listed precisely BECAUSE I don't have the right size box for them at the moment.
