USPS has stalled in delivery - But customer states there is damage with shipment

I have a strange issue - I sold an item 3 weeks back, and there seems to be a delay with the final delivery for the last 12 days, But the buyer has just sent me a message that the item was damaged; I'm baffled and thinking this is some sort of a scam.

Package might not have gotten a final delivery scan. It's not uncommon. I have half a dozen packages from the last month stuck on "out for delivery".

Did the buyer send photos? If not, ask them for photos of the damage and of the packaging.

I'm with WT101. Tell the buyer that you didn't even know it was delivered yet, and could they send photos?

Not delivered or arrived damaged, either way you refund.   As stated not all packages get scanned delivered.  Since Covid went viral, they have gotten very lax with that.

I'd leave that comment out of the mix. Don't want the buyer to get any ideas about filing an item not received claim if in fact they did receive it. 😉

Better to ask for pics and verify it's the right item then go from there.

@uspau-svcjsj

Was it a "delivered to agent for final delivery " scan showing?

That is a new USPS event scan code used when delivering to a "Freight Forwarder" in Miami.

With that event, it seems there will never be an actual "final delivery" event scan.
