Help With a Return

I recently purchased a product from ebay. I have had great luck in the past and is why I decided to make this particular purchase. When the product arrived it was missing integral parts. I contacted the seller and was informed that the part was probably lost when I opened it up for maintenance. It was not. I went back to the photos the seller had posted and on further inspection noticed that in fact the part was missing. Now one would assume that a seller wouldn't see a product with a missing piece.

I contacted the seller asking for a refund but was notified that there is a 30% restocking fee. No where on the ad was this mentioned. You had to click on a small link to get to this information. The seller then said that if I were to cancel my refund request and to change my review from one star to 5 they would get me the missing piece. Well this has been going on for 6 weeks and still no part. I was told that the piece had to come from England and would take a couple of more weeks, but not to worry I would receive a tracking number as to the status of the shipment. Well, I took it upon my self to find a vendor here in the states that sold the piece and it is only going to take 3 days to get here.

I talked to eBay cust service today and was basically told that there is nothing that they can do to assist as the refund request had been cancelled. But, they told me to call PayPal and they may be able to help out. I paid for the item with a credit card, not paypal. I did call paypal and was told there is nothing that they can do as they are two separate companies. All I want is my money back as this has been a terrible experience.

No seller can charge a re-stocking fee, that was done away with and a blatant lie by the seller or a very misinformed seller. Also never revise feedback by coercion, if YOU choose to revise feedback then that is one thing but never do so in order to get a seller to provide customer service. What you should have done was open a 'Item Not As Described' return request. Did you simply message the seller asking to return or did you actually open a formal return request and close it voluntarily when the seller asked you to?

If you didn't open a return request then do so now, if it is within 30 days of delivery. The seller will either have to provide you a return label to send the item back or offer you a partial or full refund. I would also direct Ebay to the messages where the seller was attempting to charge you a restocking fee as that is not allowed.

For future purchases if something arrives incorrectly or there is an issue reaching out to the seller first is always best but never allow one to lie and manipulate you in order to get what they want. In this instance the seller got you to change your feedback and has been dragging you out trying to time out the 30 days for a return. If it is past the 30 days just open a credit card chargeback with your bank or card company.

Do you still have the item? If yes, go to PayPal and OPEN AN ITEM NOT AS DESCRIBED case. Follow the directions carefully. OR call your credit card company. You can’t do both at the same time. Do PayPal first. If you lose, do the chargeback to the credit card.

Hi @jaad_350 you know how eBay doesn't hear anything you say? Well, we're worse than that here: We didn't read that you:

1. didn't pay with PayPal

2. closed the request by request

3. have been waiting over 6 weeks now

despite all of that was presented in writing in your OP.
