Hello community,
Simple situation, Guarantee delivery by "x" day and its 3 days after the item is still stuck at origin or else.
I have been told by some of my own customers that packages have been delayed.
I do not want to hurt the seller in anyway but what would someone do in a situation like this?
The package is 3 days late and no updates on tracking. I understand there is a delay due to the covid-19 pandemic so would one just wait it out? If so how long? Thinking about contacting the seller and agreeing not to take a refund maybe eBay will give us both our money back?

You have to elaborate on what you mean "I don't want to hurt the seller". Are you referring to account defects or have them lose their money? If you open an INR and they refund you or you guys come to a resolution, their account standing won't be affected. eBay won't take the loss for both of you.

It's possible that the item may be on its way but is just not being scanned..or as you said, it could be stuck and there could be a delay. In most cases I would suggest that you wait longer because of what is going have and because you have up to 30 days after the eta to open a claim. I'm not sure what I would do in this case though as the listing states California and the seller is registered in China so I wonder if it really is being shipped from Cali...I didn't see any negative comments about that in their feedback though.

They do receive a mark against them for an inr being opened but that may or may not affect them.
They would also be out the money for the item so if course that would affect them too but if the buyer does receive the item later on, they could repay the seller.

I would give the post office a few extra days to deliver.
As you stated, mail is experiencing delays.
I have a similar situation right now. Item shipped from Ohio to buyer in Ohio. eBay guaranteed delivery date of April 9 (yesterday). Item is in Kansas City, MO right now.
Mail is being routed away from covid-19 hot spots. The USPS is looking out for your health.
I applaud you for not wanting to hurt your seller for something they have no control over. Some buyers are not so nice.

You have thirty days from the estimated date of delivery to file an item not received complaint with Ebay, and 180 days from the date of purchase to file with Paypal. Wait as long as you feel comfortable, just don't let your Ebay window expire.
Item not received cases will not hurt a seller UNLESS they fail to act. If they ignore the case and Ebay has to refund (the buyer "steps in") they get a non-performance defect, and only two or three can be fatal to a small seller. (fatal as in getting banned from selling)

Guaranteed by X day doesnt mean the seller dropped it off at the post office. Did you message them to ask if it was dropped off? Theres been a lot of delays with USPS last few weeks. Sometimes if your lucky there wont be any delays. Seller got no control over the delivery after its dropped off.

Best option so far, wait and give time, will do claim as last resort. Message to the seller wont help, they dropped it off and its already being processed by usps.
