A buyer is saying that she went to the post office to pick up a package and they charged her because I didn’t pay for the package. I paid for the label.
when I check the tracking information, it says that it was not deliverable, because there was no safe place to put it.
She’s sending me some pictures of things but my gut tells me that this is fraudulent it’s a scam just to collect money.
But I’m not sure ??? I can’t get in touch with eBay.

If you entered the correct weight (over 1lb) for those boxes, First-Class won’t even show as an option for the buyer so how can the buyer pick it?

Doesn't matter. If the package is over 16 ounces, it can't be shipped as USPS First Class.
You should promptly refund your buyer, and apologize, apologize, apologize.
And maybe purchase a postal scale, and read the USPS shipping regulations, at least for USPS First Class Mail.

Hi,
This happened to me once. I paid for shipping on an item and when i received it i had to pay again at the door. I contacted the seller and turns out the label got mutilated in shipping. He sent me a receipt so i could get my money back at the post office. Hopefully, that's your issue. Either way make sure you do your investigation b4 you pay anything out to anyone

I always find it odd that people continue to say they can't get in touch with ebay. I talk to them regularly on the phone.

Sharing direct contact information prior to an eBay purchase is not allowed.
Not exactly written to say that you can exchange emails, just says you can not share direct contact prior to a purchase. An email is direct contact. It is allowed be to exchanged for 2 weeks after a transaction. I mostly always provided my email just encase there is a problem after two weeks when the temporary email generated by eBay disappears.
If you try to send your email without a transaction with a person, eBay will usually give you a warning that you can not.

I'm sorry but that is incorrect. Your listing had these boxes listed under first class shipping. Your original listing is still available to see. Also, if you had listed these with the correct weight it is simply not possible for a buyer to select a shipping method that is not available. We are all sellers on here and we know how it works....

Don’t go with your gut - go with reality. You sent a ~2 pound package via First Class, which means that you under reported the weight, and now you have this mess to deal with.
It won’t be, but this should be a good lesson for those that jump to the easy-way conclusion that all issues are on someone else.

There is no need for you to phone eBay regarding this issue -- USPS First Class regulations are very clear regarding the weight restrictions for USPS First Class mail: eBay has no power to change long-established USPS regulations.
You really need to accept the fact that it was YOU that made the mistake, and now you have to rectify that mistake, before things get much worse: refund your buyer for the unpaid postal charges, and apologize, apologize, apologize.
And, as I've suggested previously, purchase a postal scale (available at any office supplies store), and read about USPS First Class Mail regulations.

I did thanks I looked at some of my previous sells and I have put heavy weights and the buyer somehow purchase first class postage. Definitely over 3 pounds. But it has been ok. How do I prevent this from happening again?

Only way to prevent this is not to list with shipping methods that can’t be used for the item listed.

First, you need to purchase a postal scale -- available at every office supplies store -- very inexpensive, and tax deductible, as well.
Second, weigh each of the items which you are planning to sell, actually packed inside the containers which you plan to ship. Anything over 16 ounces ships USPS Priority.
And you need to list the proper shipping service in your future listings, as well. I cannot imagine how you got away with shipping items weighing "over 3 pounds" via USPS First Class -- but please don't do it anymore!

I'm sorry if you feel that I was "really mean and judgy," or that I "chastised" you in any way.
You had initially accused your buyer with fraud and pulling a scam; but, upon investigation, it actually developed that you had shipped an item as USPS First Class, that should actually have been shipped as USPS Priority, requiring your buyer to pay USPS for the underpayment caused by you.
I offered you some suggestions to avoid future problems, and I was unaware that you found these to be "mean and judgy."
