A buyer is saying that she went to the post office to pick up a package and they charged her because I didn’t pay for the package. I paid for the label.
when I check the tracking information, it says that it was not deliverable, because there was no safe place to put it.
She’s sending me some pictures of things but my gut tells me that this is fraudulent it’s a scam just to collect money.
But I’m not sure ??? I can’t get in touch with eBay.

To 'REALLY' know what happened and give you information we would need to know
1.) what carrier did you use to ship
2.) what zip code to what zip code
3.) what was dimension
4.) what was weight
5.) what did you pay
6.) how did you ship (ground, priority, 1st class etc.)

1. Ask your buyer to take a picture of the receipt for what she “paid” so you can refund her. (CYA)
2. Obviously you had a label or there couldn’t have tracking. My question is, did you pay the proper postage? She could have had a postage due receipt.
3. Just see if she can provide the receipt for you, as packages have to have a label, and I hope you printed your label on ebay.
4. You can always get in touch with ebay. Have you done the help chat, or requested a call back.

USPS will not simply deliver a package that was not paid for, that's not how they work. Worst case you may have owed more shipping due to the wrong label purchased. If that's the case she should have a receipt to show you, very easy for her to prove. Also what was the amount you initially paid for your label? The difference should be somewhat minimum unless you shipped something with a lot of weight. No one will try to scam you for a $5.00 difference but a buyer should not be expected to pay an additional $5.00 either. This is so easy for the buyer to prove to you and an easy resolution for you. Also remember you are allowed to ask for the buyers email address now that your transaction has complete. You can send any additional money owed via PayPal. Best of luck to you....

NO WORRIES. Your job is done if you sent it to the address eBay provided. Not deliverable issues are on her.
I know at one time if the package was not able to be left safely the recipient had to pick it up or schedule it to be redelivered for a fee. $2.75 comes to mind,,,,,
Make sure it's a postage due fee and not a fee to reschedule delivery.

Thank you! She asked for $25.45 and showed me some pics of stamp and slip but no receipt. I think it’s a scam it’s way too much. Thanks

I printed and paid for the label on eBay. I haven’t asked her for receipt because I basically told her that what she’s telling me you couldn’t be true. Let’s see if she follows up. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. She sent me pictures of the label stamped with payment due and sent me a supposes slip at the post office left but it looked very phony.

thanks for the info. Is it stated officially on ebay help pages?

I don't know where that would be stated on eBay's help pages. I have asked for emails of buyers multiple times with never any issues, but only after the initial transaction was completed. This has also been discussed many times on this forum. You are not allowed to take a transaction off the site, but once your transaction has completed you have fulfilled your obligations. There are many times that further communication is needed depending on the item being purchased and there are limitations of photos and characters in the messaging on this platform....

What was it that was shipped?
How much did the package weigh?
What were the dimensions of the package?
What USPS service did you use? (First Class Package; Media; Priority; etc)
How much was the buyer originally charged?
Did you wrap the items in USPS Priority boxes, and then cover them over?

Some empty designer boxes
about 2 pounds or less. Don’t reminder dimensions, a box medium to large size.
usps first class
paid around 9 dollars for shipping label

The sellers job is not done until the package is delivered, and if any issues the seller takes care of them. As they say “it’s not over until the fat lady sings”

First class has a maximum weight of 15.99 ounces. What is your zipcode and the buyer's zipcode. You said the weight was 2 lbs or less, you do know that the post office rounds up. I see a problem already if you managed to print a label that was first class and put the weight as LESS than 16 ounces. Then you do owe the buyer the difference. Now was the box more than a cubic foot (12X 12 x 12")? If yes, there could be a surcharge. Did you print through Ebay shipping? If yes, go there now and read the information on the shipping. It should tell you the weight that you wrote and the class and the tracking # too.
I also thought that if a box was underweight , the post office would automatically charge Ebay the difference and then the Ebay would charge the seller if they used Ebay printing. Can you come back here and answer the above questions?

"about 2 pounds or less. Don’t reminder dimensions, a box medium to large size.

That might be the answer, right there: the total weight for using USPS First Class must be no more than 16 ounces -- anything over 16 ounces must be shipped as USPS Priority.
Looks like your buyer was correct -- the package should have been shipped as USPS Priority (and NOT USPS First Class), and your buyer was forced to pay USPS the difference.
Probably a good idea to refund your buyer for at least the excess shipping charges.

Well now there is the answer. Anything over one pound cannot ship as first class. You owe your buyer the additional money. They are correct. Now you are risking a negative feedback from this buyer for the delay and the amount they had to pay out of pocket. Always keep your selling account in good shape. Apologize, send them their money owed, and put this behind you. Best of luck to you....
