Watch out for this guys. I had an INR that tracking status had an update on 12/15 that says "in transit, arriving late". And the buyer asked ebay to step in yesterday and this morning was awarded a refund.
eBay Christmas 2020 Free Item Giveaway!
I took multi-variable Calculus in college and Differential Equations... so I can confirm that yesterday (12/23) minus the day of that tracking update (12/15) equals 8... someone please chime in and confirm this difficult math. Also from my limited math knowledge, I believe 8 is less than 10... again can someone chime in and confirm this difficult math (preferably a PhD).
Does ebay not consider the "in transit, arriving late" a valid tracking status or something? Because the preceding status was on 12/11. Also, why does that status just disappear when the package starts moving... shouldn't it still show on record?

You have to request a call back from CS to get the extension, it unfortunately isn't automatic

Also, I don't think the "in transit" counts...for me it doesn't even show up in the eBay tracking, only on the USPS website 😞

Most people know shipping is slow this time of year, eventually it will arrive. Others see eBay policies as it is late so I can ask for a refund knowing quite well the item will show up and they will get it for free. eBay's attitude, Oh well.

Ree hee heeally?? I wonder why isn't it automatic? Does ebay just like creating more work for themselves and Customer Service? I just checked my CS callback time is 1.5 hrs... most likely flooded with sellers asking for INR extensions. I get about 2 INRs a day now.
From my math skills I learned from college (see OP lol) I can tell you that thems adds up to a lot of hours.

Yea I wrote a few posts indicating why the heck does ebay choose to hide this status from us. It in turn hides it from buyers who then go into a panic that I am forced to talk them down the ledge.

Sorry this happened:
Note: if item is worth it try an intercept to get it back.
If the tracking showed movement it might have been extended to 10 days.
As for if 8 is greater than 10:
It depends on what measuring system 8 is in, to which system 10 is in.
You know the right way: the wrong way: and the eBay way....
Oh yea that should be the military way..

“In Transit” is just an automated status when a package has not been scanned in the last 24 hours.
It’s not an actual manual scan, so it does not count as it does not indicate any movement.

The way I understood the "extended seller protection" was that it should be automatic. Supposedly at the 3 day point when the buyer can ask eBay to "step in" it is supposed to trigger the 10 day extension if............... as stated ...... the tracking shows movement. I'm going with the thought that the "non scan" automatic event code of "in-transit" is not considered movement.

The USPS, UPS, and FedEx are handling 800 million more packages this month than they did a year ago. You would think eBay management would know about this.

You already sense this @bigdeals.etc that the last physical scan was more then ten tense days ago at the instant eBay was asked to step in, so it didn't qualify for an extension: The automatic, computer-generated, we-don't-know-where-the-package-is-because-this-is-not-an-actual-scan status updates don't count, sorry.

The announcement doesn't mention that a call is necessary. Just states that if there is movement, the case will remain open for an extra 10 days.

Ebay doesn't care about the seller. I'm going to be out over $1000 because the postal service has issues because of Covid. I just had a buyer file a claim after 5 days of not getting his item. Basically this year buyers will get a lot of free items from me. Thanks Ebay for caring about the seller.

they do....they just don't care....they don't have to refund......you do....
as fare as the amount of packages UPS/FEDX/USPS are handleing this year did they not plane for this????? or just take the money and run!!!!
USPS raises shipping cost every jan. they did it in oct. this year to get all that extra x-mas cash and did nothing to handle the amount of packages so no pitty for the shippers taking the money and trashing x-mas for evreyone.
and once again ebay drops the ball on us again
