Ebay is changing my correct package weight (I use a scale). I'm losing money!

There is a new thing on the weight of the package where Ebay actually uses it's own "estimate" and changes the actual weight of the package.  This has happened many times to me.  When the item sells, the buyer pays the ebay estimate, not the ACTUAL weight.  I am losing money on every sale!  Should we all take Ebay to small claims court for cheating us?

Don't know how you're listing.........but I've never had ebay change a weight that I've entered in the listing.... certainly if it's 2# 4 ounces.......it's rounded up to 3#........both on the listing and when the label is printed.....

Would you give an example of exactly what you put in a specific listing and how ebay changed it?

I have no issue with weight.

Like the other posting said. If your package is just over 1 lb. then it's 2 lb rate. That isn't ebay, that's the carrier.

You don't ever pay exact unless your package is literally 3.00 lbs then you'd be charged 3 lb rate.

Are either of you using the newbie quick listing tool where ebay "suggests' things based "on similar items"?

If so, move to the advanced listing tool.

I have had a few issues with weight and here is what happened to me-don't know if it the same for you. For example I insert 1 pound 4 ounces and then I sell it but it only shows one pound without the ounces. I lose a little -not much. After several weeks of troubleshooting I found out that when I am listing and put the weight in, again say 1 pound 4 ounces, the ounces will disappear in the draft listing and I have to go back and double check that it is there and if not I reinsert the ounces before I make it go live.

Make sure eBay's recommended shipping autofill is turned OFF. The location will vary depending on the listing form you are using. Use the instructions that fit your form.

In the unified listing form (this form has the option to add video) go to the shipping section and click "see all options" that you'll find on the right. Turn OFF "Autofill shipping details".

In the quick listing form (this form DOES NOT have the video option) go to the shipping section. Does it say "recommendation applied"? If so, click the word "change" that you should see to the right of recommendation applied, then remove the recommended shipping option.

Once you remove the recommended option you'll be able to enter the correct weight and measurements.

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

If the item is over 1#........just round it up to the next pound.  the carriers charge based on the # of pounds and do not charge less for 1#6 ounces.......than if you put in the 2#..........

Re: Ebay is changing my correct package weight (I use a scale). I'm losing money!

I honestly don't think it's a "rounding up" issue.

As others have pointed out, I think it's an issue with the OP not fully understanding the whole shipping/shipping label process.

@inhawaii

The person I answered wasn't the OP..........I agree the OP has more problems than rounding.........

When you enter shipping weight and size - do NOT click APPLY.   Instead finishing the listing and save it or list it. When you click "APPLY" you are telling it to use eBay's AI to estimate shipping info.

eBay is aware of this but may take forever to fix it. So for now - do not click APPLY next to the shipping info.

It would be much easier if the people complaining on this board posted the details on this board. I have no desire to go on a scavenger hunt.
