Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

Anyone know how I can get my shipping labels to print without that little QR code on there?
It's on mine in 2 places - next to the recipient's address and again underneath the bar code
Wastes ink, don't need it.

I don't have a QR code on any of my labels. Is this a new program?

@eclecticempire54  On the create label page look to the right and click on Show More.  Scroll down to the label format and click Change.  Select the half sheet label and enable the receipt half.

...and that will make those two little 2D barcodes disappear? If you enable the receipt half, you're using even more ink.

Frankly, I don't think it's even possible to measure how little ink those two little 2D barcodes consume. It's like printing with fumes. If the USPS wants one added to their labels, which I first noticed appearing maybe a couple of months ago, fine; I cannot believe they will have any noticeable effect on ink consumption at all.

My only observation is that the second 2D code, the one that appears down below the label image, seems intended to go on the receipt half of the form, only there is no receipt if you have that option turned off (as I do). If there's no receipt to be printed, the 2D code is left sort of floating in whitespace down there, achieving nothing. I think whoever updated the label software to add the 2D codes forgot to add a test for the lower one, to suppress printing that one if the receipt option has not been enabled.

You mentioned waste of ink. The codes are so small that the ink would seem to infinitesimal. Yet no complain about, for example, the height of the bar code. Why, if they cut the height in half imagine how much ink you would save.

Much ado about nothing.

I don’t like how the postage labels use a capital P and capital F on the top left corner instead of the lower case letters. It’s such a waste of ink that way. I also hate when my buyers have first or last names more than three syllables long. That also wastes a ton of ink. Oh wait, I have a thermal printer.

It's irritating... there are 3 different electronic codes on the label. Not sure why the QR code is printed twice, either. Such minimal ink, but I cut my label under the bar code, so that second one goes into the trash anyway...

I do not see a create label page as you call it. Can you be more specific or do a screenshot? Thank you

When you click on Print Label to ship an item through ebay, the page that opens is the "create label" page.

The printing of the QR code doesn't allow the seller/shipper to print an online lable record.

Re: Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

@eclecticempire54   Having a QR code print on the shipping label, which is what this thread is about, has nothing to do with whether you enable the receipt half of the label.  The only restriction is that the receipt option is only available for the half sheet label format.

Now if you are talking about downloading a QR code instead of printing a label, then of course there is no receipt half as there is no label as the QR code was not meant to be printed, but just scanned from your phone at the post office.

The receipt half is redundant anyway as all the label/shipping information is available online between the shipping label manager and/or the order details page.

Re: Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

In fact it does, in someway. Up until the time I selected/clicked on the QR code option to print on the my labels, I always had the label print on the top half of the page and the online label record on the bottom half of the page. Which is the way I prefer it. I'm old school and like the paper copy of my mailing transactions. But when I selected the QR code to print on my mailing labels, I haven't been able to print the online label record. It may be redundant, but that is my preference.

@eclecticempire54  I must not be understanding. Why are you clicking on the QR code?  The QR appears on the label without any selection.  Just select PDF and the half-sheet label format (8.5"x11") and check the box to enable the receipt half.

Re: Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

I clicked that option inadvertently a couple of weeks ago, not knowing by doing it would not let me print the online label record. I just did chat with Ebay customer service. They told me that I couldn't change that.  Sheesh!

I think we might be confusing two different QR codes here. The original question on this thread was about the two copies of a little 2D barcode that appeared on USPS shipping labels within the past couple of months. One is to the left of the mailing address on the label and the other is below the label to the right. (I suspect the second one is not supposed to be printed if the receipt option was not selected, but someone forgot to test for that.)

The other QR code, what I think @eclecticempire54 is referring to here, is the big 2D code that you can store on your smartphone and take to the post office, where they will scan it and print out your shipping label.

Re: Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

I am  indeed referring to the  QR code in the first paragraph. I print my own shipping labels and take them to the post office myself. Just call me old school!

Re: Don't want QR code to print on my printed ship label

@eclecticempire54  You can not remove the QR code from the label, but that doesn't prevent you from printing the label on the top half and printing the receipt on the bottom half.  If this is not working now, you need to reset the label format.

On the create label page look to the right and click on Show More.  Scroll down and click on Change.  Select the PDF 8.5"x11" inch label and below it check the box to enable the receipt half.
