Hello, I recently sold 8 items to one buyer at once. They paid individually for each item immediately before I had the chance to send a combined shipping invoice. I was still able to purchase a combined shipping label. How do I figure out how much money to refund them? Do I just subtract the shipping cost they paid from 7 out of the 8 items? Doesn't eBay take some of the money too? Please help me out of this mess. Thanks 👍

I used my numbers only as an example. Not necessarily 75%.
1.) What was the 'total' of what buyer paid for shipping (then divide by 8)= answer #1
2.) What is the 'total' that you 'shipped' items for (then divide that by 8)= answer #2
Subtract answer #2 from answer #1 (then divide by 😎 = answer#3
Refund "answer #3" for EACH item (again, ebay will lower your total refund by the Final Value Fee and then refund that customer that amount along with any taxes they may have charged).

Ebay will 'refund' you (or your customer) and of the FEES associated with the Refund.
You will have to 'perform' and refund for each item.
Example- shipping cost $10, Buyer charged $5 each (x8) for $40. You want to refund the buyer $30
Refund 'each item' $3.75 (x8) if you planned on 'eating' the 'final value fee' of shipping (so you pay 15% of $10).
If you want to 'retain' that $1.50, then refund $3.51 each (keeping 19c each for a total of 'about' $1.50)

I usually refund shipping on each one...there is s button to click on that....and a 'reason'...'combined shipping refund'.
Here's the important fact: if all 8 items are mailed together....that one tracking number should be added to each and every of all 8 items...not the package. It's a little more work but safer.
Doing a tracking on one item...some buyers will say buyer only got one item and wants a refund of 7 other items.
I get so many buyers who pay for each item. That .40 cents fee for each of 8 items adds up.

So refund 75% of what the buyer paid for shipping on each item? Buyer paid 7.94$ for shipping for one item. 75% of 7.94$ is 5.96$. So the refund for that one single item would be 5.96$?

Here in N.J. We can go to the Seller Hub > Orders > All Orders. Find the order that you want to refund. Next to "Item Details" - Click on the little downward arrow then down to send refund. Make sure you use the reason "Shipping Discount". As shipping for most of our items is pretty much the same - we usually charge 1 regular shipping charge & $1.00 for each additional item. Customers seem ok with this.
