Buyer wants item sent to a different address than what was printed on the label...just house # only.

Buyer requested a change in address in sending a small/inexpensive item to them. It appears the difference is just the house #. Street and city, state, zip are the same. Can I just correct the street address manually? Thanks. K

You can physically do it. You'll void your seller protections, though. It's best to relist and have the buyer purchase correctly.

Not unless you want to lose your seller protections as stated in previous post

only buyer can change their on file mailing address in th eBay system

buyer should have changed in at the point of checking out

If the seller prints out the label and then uses Witeout and/or a Sharpie to change the street number, how on earth would eBay know about that?

So do I tell the buyer I can only ship to the address on file? Unless they change the address ASAP? I haven't sent it yet but the label has been printed. Thanks 😊

You can void the shipping label

yes I suggest you let her know you are unable to fill her request to change her address

you ether have to send it to the address as is  on file or you will need to coffer to cancel the transaction, and she can rebuy it

when she pays again she will be able to changer her own address if she wants to

They would not, of course. 🙂

More specifically, Item Not Received claims are evaluated on whether the City and ZIP of the delivery match those of the Ship-To: address (and only 5-digit ZIPs, not 9-digits); the street address is not considered. I would not see a problem here (although to be honest, I would only do this for inexpensive items, not high-value deliveries).

It might be a Christmas gift for a neighbor on the street.

'inexpensive item'...

The address attached to the transaction cannot be changed after payment has been made. As I mentioned above, there's no conceivable reason why you  shouldn't just make a change on the label that you have already printed.

Curious. I know what you say is true for the initial INR.

The part I'm curious about, what If the buyer appealed it with a statement from the carrier that the package wasn't addressed to the address on the order.

You know what we advise people to get for fake tracking scams.

Would eBay take the funds from the seller or refund out of their pocket ?

I get it's unlikely to happen I'm just curious.

No. You should contact the buyer and let them know that you can only ship to the address originally provided. If they still want it shipped to a different address, you'll need to cancel the sale for "error in shipping address" or whatever the phrasing is. You can then relist the item and the buyer can repurchase it, making sure to provide the correct address before paying. This happened to me earlier this year (the buyer had moved but forgot to update their address in eBay; this is what the eBay rep. instructed me to do, and all went well.)

Probably wouldn't advise this, don't compromise your seller protection.  All my listings have a clause, which is your contract.  It's simple; do not ship to alternate addresses, it is the purchasers' responsibility to ensure their shipping address is up to date prior to purchase.

Thanks to all of you with your feedback. I had not yet shipped the item, so I "unshipped" the status, then very easily canceled the order (very impressed with eBay's new cancellation process!), a message and full refund was sent to the buyer (I didn't have to explain details, etc. because she wanted to manipulate the address process and I declined professionally), regarding the canceled order. Then I relisted the item with some updates. All is well again in Whosville (lol!). Happy Holidays! Kathy
