Buyer's Address Appears to be a Freight Cargo Company. Should I Add a Sig. Requirement?

Hello. New to eBay. I need some guidance here.

Just sold an item to a buyer that has some sort of id number besides his name with an address to BM Cargo (8400 NW 25th St Ste 100 DORAL FL 33198-1534).  Searches tell me that it's a freight cargo company, a reshipping service, and to be careful.  A post on another thread said "the seller only has to provide tracking and successful delivery to that address.  From there the reshipper is responsible for the item. "

I was planning to message the buyer asking if he would like to have a signature added once my item get sold. But since it's a freight cargo company. Should I just go ahead and add a sig. requirement or should I message the buyer to ask him first?  The buyer has been an eBay member for 3 years with over 200 100% positive feedback).

I also want to ask: Do you put a battery warning sticker on electronic items (Firstclass and Priority) that:

1. Has an internal battery that is part of the device (phones, watches, rechargeable devices...)

2. Has an (extra) external battery that comes with the device (laptops with charger brick, new items that has battery separate like wireless mouse...)

3. Devices that have removable battery.

Help and tips are appreciated. Thank you.

I think you should note all in your package, it's much better.

Why would you add signature confirmation? I don't see anything in your sold history of a high enough value to warrant that.

I cancel any order I see from Doral, FL. I'm pretty sure they have some kind of scammer ring going on around there or something. I got scammed from there once, I even read on threads about people from very similar addresses shipping there and having bad experiences.

It's always some crazy address that makes no sense. They may have a way to get the package without there being a delivery. Making you have to refund them. Just speculating, but my advice.. don't accept an order from here if it's some crazy address. Google the address.

For example, someone purchased from here and there address had some code at the end of it and google maps showed me it was a major warehouse that is a shipping logistic company. Yeah, no thanks.

Anonymous
Not applicable

You need to add terms to your listings stating:

You do not ship outsides the U.S.

You do not ship to reshipping companies regardless of location.

You do not third to third party addresses (i.e., send it as gift to third party).

You do not sell to buyers located outside the U.S.

Alternatively add U.S. Protectorates

Ban these locations in your settings.

Now when someone attempts to buy an item they are violating your terms and no sales contract exists. eBay will also remove the feedback they leave if you don't send the item.

Send the item if you like playing Russian roulette.

There is NO PROTECT at all on items sent to a reshipper as the buyer if free to make a complaint with their credit card, payment processor or bank that is entirely separate from eBay's empty promises.

NEVER put a signature confirmation on a package that wasn’t originally advertised as such without buyer approval unless it’s over $750. This can create issues.

The buyer may never be there to physically sign for the package. This will cause delivery delays for a package the buyer might urgently need. The buyer may also hate having to ultimately drive to their PO to claim the package if necessary.

Re: Buyer's Address Appears to be a Freight Cargo Company. Should I Add a Sig. Requirement?

If you will carefully read along here, you will discover that this is the address of a freight forwarder. Many international buyers use them.  There are some also in Oregon and Delaware as well because those states do not have a state sales tax.

Only you can assess your level of risk when shipping to a freight forwarder's address.  Many, many sellers here ship often to those addresses and have had no difficulty.  This is not the address of a scammer.

The interesting thing that you should know is that, once the item reaches the freight forwarder's address, the seller's responsibility has ended.

You state your buyer has been on eBay for 3 years and has 100% positive FB.  That 100% positive FB has little meaning since buyers can only be given positives; however, if we presume that this buyer has had his purchases shipped to that address for 3 years, doesn't it seem like his experience with that freight forwarder has been positive?

If you do decide to add sig required, be aware that it will be the signature of an employee at the package's first stop -- the freight forwarder.

Just curious, exactly what reason did you use for cancelling?

It seems like the OP has decided to cancel this transaction because shipment would be to a freight forwarder.

However, it should be noted that adding the signature requirement on a package going to a freight forwarder would only mean that the signature would be that of an employee of that freight forwarder, not a signature from the buyer himself.
