Anyone mail a package via USPS that is very late and not updating on tracking?

Passing 10 days since I mailed 2 packages priority mail.  Neither has been delivered and the only time either appeared on the tracking info was the day I went to the post office. I launched a search for both online but so far nothing. Anyone else going through the same thing? Anyone have packages that eventually started moving or are they still stuck in limbo?

According to USPS, it doesnt have to scan the package every step of the way,  it only needs to scan it upon the Delivery.

so it  isnt very reasonable for ebay to use acceptance scan to decide if the refund should be given.

I think eBay should just give seller 20 day grace period if they have marked their item as  "shipped".

Re: Anyone mail a package via USPS that is very late and not updating on tracking?

Ten Days?  Two Weeks?  After Thanksgiving?
I had a sale on November 14th.  The buyer paid the same day and I took the package inside a local post office and dropped it into a package collection drawer -- all on November 14th.   USPS Tracking showed it was "accepted."  That was 5 weeks and two days ago = 37 days.

My buyer has been calm and patient and quiet.  But I am just dismayed and disappointed.  I truly think it is possible -- only a possibility -- that somebody somewhere along the line might have set the package aside and taken it out of the stream of delivery.  Only a possibility -- because it was an item meant for children, which I packed it into a box that originally contained a home-electronics item.   IF -- big IF -- someone thought they were getting one thing, they were surprised to see it was actually something else.

Other items that were purchased from me in Southern California after that November 14th purchase -- one was delivered after five or six days in Nashville on its way to Arkansas, and another is still floating around in San Francisco for the last week on its way to Ohio.

SO today my selling ID went into PayPal and processed a full refund for that buyer from the middle of November.   I am willing to let this purchase be a gift to my buyer IF -- again -- IF the package ever shakes loose and finally gets delivered.

All, anyone else not getting USPS tracking updates?  With all the INR's filed I'm tracking about a dozen packages and not a single one had any movement with tracking Friday, Saturday, Sunday or today.

Either USPS tracking is broken or the package mess at USPS is biblical in size  - much worse than our worst nightmare.

"Either USPS tracking is broken or the package mess at USPS is biblical in size"

It's the latter, "biblical in size" is the perfect description.

Putting together the various news releases from across the nation, it is by far the worst nightmare USPS has ever faced.  And in my opinion, USPS didn't face it very well.

1.  The pandemic hit 9 months ago.  Vaccine just got approved, most Americans won't get one until 2021.

2.  Postal employee shortages started at least 6 months ago.  Hello, they have Union protection, they ain't coming back until the pandemic is over.

2. Christmas comes this time of year every year.  The publishers of the annual calendar didn't pull a fast one.

3. Some states, NY for one, have told visitors from other states they need to quarantine themselves for 2 weeks when arriving in NY.  Duh, people won't be traveling with gifts in hand for the holidays.  They will send gifts USPS instead of face to face delivery like they used to do.  The media has predicted far fewer people traveling this year.  Duh! they're still going to send gifts.

4. More and more people shop on line, with the convenience of home delivery.  More people are doing this due to the pandemic, instead of risking large holiday shopping crowds.

Duh!  USPS didn't see this coming?  All the way up to Saturday Dec 19th, USPS was still promoting Priority mail pre-Christmas delivery for packages shipped by Dec 19th.  And ebay went along with it using USPS delivery dates to give it's sellers and buyers visions of sugar plum fairy delivery dates.  Most of my packages don't leave my local area for 4 days.  I printed a pre-paid shipping label on the 16th that showed 2-day delivery.  I dropped it off with my local USPS clerk and she said "no way that's going to happen".  She was right, it's nowhere close.  Another postal worker told me her office ran out of certain holiday stamps and they have been waiting 18 days for them to be delivered.  Not to worry, they're forever stamps, they can use them next year.  The postal workers know, yet the people at the top act like they just crawled out from under a rock for the last 2 months.

USPS could have saved themselves and everyone else a lot of grief if they would have been honest and published a minimum of 2 week priority delivery dates instead of 2 to 3 days.  But, (1) they're not honest, and (2) they have nothing to loose, there's no money back guarantee for late delivery on most of the levels of service.  And (3) They really don't give a s#!>\ if Johnnie's gift is late.

I have had to refund every sale from 12/3 as of 12/21  I put my store on vacation until 1/4 because I cannot afford to give out more refunds.  I guess we will eat the refunds and lost merchandise until January.  I donated all the Holiday items /  Holiday apparel to charity this past weekend.

With all those refunds, are you at least getting your items back? Or is it a total loss?

I have several packages that are stuck in a black hole somewhere.  Now one buyer is filing a not received case after 7 days.  What can be done

Re: Anyone mail a package via USPS that is very late and not updating on tracking?

Is eBay protecting the sellers because of the USPS delays?

Are we going to get a defect for late packages even though we mail them the same day or within 24 hours?

Many of the packages in the last two weeks have been sitting at the Post Office with no acceptance scan for days.  When I went there there today there were packages stacks 5 foot high and overflowing into the hallway.

They are seriously backlogged.

+1, Great Points.

I also think in late November when it became clear the system was overloading USPS should have put controls on the number of parcels entering the system.  That would have been inconvenient for shippers, but much better than the system freezing up. like it is now.

Re: Anyone mail a package via USPS that is very late and not updating on tracking?

Wow, what a shipping season....of 18 items shipped all got active tracking at my local P.O. and then the wheels began to fall off.  8 items got reported throughout the process as usual and the other ten saw no tracking until delivered and 2 still are floating around out there almost 2 weeks late.  I did go and file a search request with USPS and they did find one and reported back to me... the other?  well who knows.   As a seller I understand USPS just isn't getting the job done.  I ordered goods that Fed-Ex delivered in 2 days and I had UPS deliver a package to Indiana from Texas on the next day.  Sure we can blame the virus, but I notice they are still charging us the same as if we were getting good service.  I'm glad my customers have been very understanding and patient, and I'm upset that stuff I ordered on the 10th still isn't here yet and no tracking to even show they're getting closer.   I think we're all going to suffer some for problems not of our making.  Question is just how patient must we be before we have to start requesting refunds for undelivered goods?  I don't have the answer, but my thinking is that when something was shipped 2 weeks ago and can't be found, then it may be time to start the process.   You can always re-pay a refund if the item shows up next month.
