What can a poster do when a question is not acknowledged in weekly community chat

I posted here because there is no ability to post in the locked weekly community chat.

I know sometimes a question is missed and all questions can not be answered in the 1 hour given to post. Usually, there is an acknowledgment that the question is being forwarded to the appropriate team for an answer.

So do I have to wait a whole week to post the question again?

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I think I read recently that the promotion banner is back at the top, so maybe that question was viewed as a moot point.

As for the statement from Mr Wenig, it may be considered inappropriate to question the CEO where he got his data from that backs up that statement.  Just supposition on my part.

Wishing you all the best, mallontown.

So castlemagicmemories if you were a Customer service rep and someone asked a question you would not answer it because it was moot?  Clearly, if banners were moved back then the answer should have been they were moved back. I ddi see after the chat that they were moved back. But, why were the banners moved back since ebay research team and it showed it improved sales? I think the majority of sellers were scratching their heads after that move and that was reflected on the selling boards. I thought it was a good question that should not have been ignored.

As to the Wenig question , it is a totally appropriate question, and they can either address the question or not.

To constantly ignore the question is a disservice to all who use the site. Are you insinuating that they may have an answer are scared to answer or directed not to answer?

Hi @mallontown

We have a system in place for our chats that captures every question asked. We answer all direct questions asked.

What we're not able to do is address rants/personal opinions/speculation/conspiracy theories etc. If there are posts that you feel were unanswered, they probably fall into one of those categories.

Regarding your question on Devin's comment at Davos, Brian Burke discussed this topic with you and gave you an answer back in January. Here's a link to Brian's reply. You may not like the answer that you received - but I am not sure that we can help that, our goal is to answer every question open and honestly.

As a side note, if a question is answered and the question is brought up again and again over multiple chats, that could be considered a violation of our Rules of Engagement-

"Avoid duplicate, repetitive or disruptive threads and posts.  Members should only post one thread per topic on the most relevant board for the issue or question.  Topics or posts that are duplicative or disruptive may be removed without notice."

Please keep our rules of engagement in mind when posting.

Many thanks.

In the hr format, I found that most of your questions were answered, and there were at least 7 posts by you with as many as 5 questions in them.  I don't think anyone else came close to having that number of posts, but I could be wrong.  What that suggested to me, seeing their answers, is that they did a magnificent job answering so many multi faceted questgions, but I see you don't agree with that and that is your right.  I don't know why they didn't answer, but the fact that the banners were moved back has been documented on the Boards several times and I know you frequent the Boards, I am sure they know this, and as you indicated here, you now know this.  Possibly they were NOT moved back when you asked the question, but they were going to be moved back.  Why they were moved back is something I don't know.  Perhaps it had something to do with so many sellers taking issue with it.  You are can continue to pursue that, as is your right, but since it back where it was...

As to the Wenig question , it is a totally appropriate question, and they can either address the question or not.

I thought my answer was complete but am happy to clarify.  Have you worked in a corporate atmosphere at all?  If so, you would know that the CEO is not largely available for questions nor is it in the perview of those lower in the hierarchy to just question him.  Of course again, I don't know for sure, I am not insinuating anything~it was clear that I was speculating.  I am sure you will ask, though.  It may interest you to know that I excelled in Customer Service and Sales, in many different industries, Banking, Music Publishing, and Discovery, to name just a few, and served as Rep and Supervisor.  I merely speculated on the reasons, and thought it entirely possible that in the deluge of questions in the Chat format, one or two may have been missed.  I know you don't see it that way.

With all due respect, you have your view and I have mine and we can agree to disagree, as this is not a debate, and my responses are succinct.

Good Luck.

Re: What can a poster do when a question is not acknowledged in weekly community chat

The only thing I can suggest at this point and it is entirely up to you would be for you to personally call the CEO at the San Jose Headquarters or send a letter to his attention there.  Be sure to include your contact info.

I can shed no further light on this for you, but I do wish you success in getting the answers that you seek.  In any case, I was only offering speculation to start with, in hopes that another perspective might be meaningful.  I can see it was not, but that is understandable.

All the best to you!

6 days ago - USPS First Class: for packages that weigh 14oz or less. Average arrival time is 2 - 4 days with delivery confirmation. USPS Priority Mail: for most packages. Average arrival time is 1 - 3 days with delivery confirmation.

mallontown, I hope this helps.  You do not need to respond to this post.  Thank you.

not sure why you are using TopatoCo (small brick and mortar) as one of your references. The first line for that company uses 14 ounces and less for first class mail and you can send anything under 1lb first class so they are erroneous on the first line.

I use USPS so I go to the source -this can be helpful for others to find average delivery dates

I use mostly 4 services and can count on 1 hand the times in the last nearly 20 years that i used priority mail express so I will not address that service

I use first class, priority, parcel and media mail.

He is the map for prioity mail the fastest of the 4 services

map usps priority.PNG

looking at the mao for my priority shipments there is a tiny area that is supposed to arrive in 1 day,the rest is 2 and 3 days in a pretty evenly slplit (note Hawaii and Alaska are not shown and I ship to both)

So a quick look at this map tells me my priority mail items are supposed to arrive in an average of 2.5 days. Keep in ming that USPS says "Exceptions apply and delivery time is not guaranteed." They say that because they know that they do not meet those times so the 2.5 days is actually longer.

So now its more than a 2.5 day average and that is USPS fastest service I use.

I olnlysend about  15% 5 of my packages this method.

Below is my  first class map

first class for me.PNG

I think most would say this is closest to a 3 day average but keep in mind USPS says "Exceptions apply and delivery time is not guaranteed. A majority of my items are shipped this way.

below is my package (retail ground and media mail) map which would be 5-7 day average, again USPS says "Exceptions apply and delivery time is not guaranteed.

Re: What can a poster do when a question is not acknowledged in weekly community chat

With all due respect, the info was regarding USPS.

If topac was in there, just disregard.  I had indicated no response was necessary from you regarding that info but perhaps you missed that.

And possibly this as well.  No response is necessary to me, but hidy hoo's questions to you remain unanswered so perhaps you would care to answer them now?

I will not be back to this thread again; I consider the matter closed, outside of your answer to hidy, of course.

@mallontown Just curious...why have you chosen to use the same signature as the eBay community team, and what does nana-nana-boo-boo mean?

With all due respect, hidy hoo's question has not been answered.  It is post #11, dated 3/2/2018.  Hope this helps.

looks like my last paragraph did not show-So i am reposting

By these maps USPS tells me that my packages should arrive in:

priority ave 2.5 days

first class 3 days

parcel and media mail  approximately 6 days

So for me USPS is telling me the average would be about 4 days per package.

Keep in mind that USPS says "Exceptions apply and delivery time is not guaranteed."

Some examples would be major storms and flooding that are occurring now and peak delivery dates where USPS adjusts its calendar.

So that tells me that all the average USPS above are optimistic best-case scenarios.

My best case for all of my items is an average of 4 days.  I don't think I am outside of the norm for sellers who use USPS.
