This site is broken

Reading a post, then click back, there is no anchor coding so we are sent to the bottom of a page. Then unable to find where I left off, I have to scroll thru all the posts to find where I was. Endless loop, not endless love.

Pathetic. That is one fault of many.

And why load move all the Seuss political rants to spam the selling boards? Nice job at disrupting the flow even more. Put them in the Soapbox.

And move the posts to the top when they are responded to. Duh!

Re: This site is broken

I totally understand, I am constantly amazed that there are so many basic coding errors on ebay, and the ebay app is even worse.  I don't understand how a company the size of ebay can't develop a functional product. I wonder if there is a rule that ebay employees are not allowed to sell on ebay, because every time I talk to someone from ebay about a glitch I get the impression that they have never actually used ebay.

I can't be all negative though, Ebay does have better buyers than other selling platforms

The "where we left off", and the " responded posts to the top" is an issue that came in with the recent upgrading updating of the boards. It has been brought to the attention of those in charge along with some other things. Hopefully there will be some improvements in the usability of the boards. Some item have already been fixed.

Thoughts are that the not moving responses to the top is an intentional thing.   That way topics roll down out of sight, and that reduces the on, and on posting to a thread.   Sometimes good to fade away, sometimes not a good thing.

I agree that the Dr. Seuss posts are a nuisance. Driving meaningful posts out of sight.  The published states that some of the books are in less than good taste, but some feel they have "rights" here on eBay, when in reality they do not.

Re: This site is broken

One possible workaround to the problem of not winding up back where you left off is to open new posts in another browser tab. When you are done with each post you can simply close the tab and you should find yourself on the original discussion board tab exactly where you left off.

This technique also works with almost any long list such as when browsing search results.

Re: This site is broken

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.....or mine works differently.......

If I use the browser to "go back" once I'm finished with a message......it goes back to the approximate place on the main board where I originally clicked on the message.

I absolutely agree the posts on the main board need to be "surfaced" to the top when there is a post made.......

Exact behavior may depend on many factors including the browser type, whether a page has loaded completely, or whether eBay has made changes recently.

In some cases if you are scrolling down a long list -- the kind with "see more" rather than actual page numbers -- you may not be able to go back to your original spot if it no longer appears on the first page.

I just tested using the Community Platform Feedback discussion board, and following a link to a message and using the back button left me back at the same page where the original link was located, since the board is divided in numbered pages rather than a continuous list.

But try this link:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Buying-Selling/ct-p/buying-selling-db

If you use the "Load more" link at the bottom and scroll down and choose a message there, open the message in the same tab and then use the back button, you will not wind up back at your original spot; you will wind up at the bottom of the original page around the "Load more" link, since the message does not appear on the "first" page among the first twenty messages.

In this case, opening the message in another tab avoids the issue entirely.

I don't think they can find the Soapbox anymore.   I saw a screenshot the other day of some page with a lot of photos and titles with the Soapbox included so it probably exists.   Can't find that page or the post that had  the photo either anymore so I cannot direct anybody there.  I don't see it any dropdown from the menus above either.  Must have hidden it even from the mods?

I agree, though,  dumping all those on the Seller Board didn't seem right.  They were not about selling, but rather political rants for the most part.
