Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Thank you for helping us catch those bugs! While we did work hard to make sure we caught any issues before we released the new changes to the Community, there might be some issues that we didn’t catch. If you find any issues, please post them only here. The Community team will be actively monitoring this post and we’ll work as fast as we can to get them resolved. No need to @ mention us, if you post here.

Be sure to include links to the pages, screenshots, which browser you’re using and other relevant information you can share.

Update as of 03/05: Thanks for your feedback! I'll be tracking updates here.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

  1. We can no longer see who last answered a post. If answered by a knowledgeable member, I don't need to respond. If answered by the OP, then they had additional questions or info.
  2. Can no longer tell whether staff has responded to a post.

  3. No more quick look on avatars. Now have to click open a new window to see if poster is newbie or seasoned, and then from there, still have to click listings to see if they are posting on the correct site.

Agreeing with this and posting it to stress it again.  Very important here.

Guess you can't quote anymore, either.

@ra_201044 the quote feature should work. Are you using a mobile device?

The top related content under the thread shows the same thread you are on. This has happened on every thread I’ve seen.

It’s not related, it’s identical. 🤣

There's something called "responsive design". It's where the page adapts to different screen sizes appropriately.

It seems eBay is not familiar with this topic, as they're trying to use the same interface for both... Rather than having it adapt properly!

@zamo-zuan I can confirm that Khoros used responsive design for the Community redesign.

Are you using a mobile device?

If I live to the year 2050, I still wouldn't download an ebay app to my phone.

Nope - latest Chrome on a laptop.

@ra_201044 since this uses responsive design, some options may change with smaller screens. One feature that vanishes on smaller screens is the quote feature. We're working with Khoros to ensure the option to quote is available on any screen size.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

When a post gets a response, it does not appear to be "moved up" in the list of threads as before.  May take a while?  or not at all?

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Make this smaller.

It does not need to be  9" X 16"  on a monitor screen !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

Sorry to go off topic, as this thread is about "issues", but I must say that I do like that it seems that I can see a bit more of a new topic post without having to hover to see what it is about.

Oh-m-gee...

You mean to tell me that they are using responsive design and if they did not, this would actually be WORSE???

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

For many reasons I would prefer to switch back to the classic view for the community is that possible?

Is there a way to set a preference to have latest replied bumped?

I find this view much less user friendly. I used to be able to see my notifications and the first few thread in one view. Now with that huge purple banner they are much further apart and you have to scroll to see your notifications and new or replied to threads. Also I prefer seeing just the title to the thread and putting my cursor over the title if I want to see the first few sentences. Now one thread takes up much more room. And another issue, when you have a notification, you no longer can put your cursor over the bell to see the preview, you have to open the notifications window to see them.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

I'll let you know if I recognize any glitches, in the near to far future.

Ah, I guess it's just gonna be a little bite getting use to it;

It does appear to be phone friendly, and that quick link to posters listings, is nice, I guess.

The overall look/effect seems to lean towards a marketing strategy, although, for some strange reason many of the posters have created a separate account strictly for posting only and those posters have zero listings, so that kinda nullifies the marketing value of it. But that's not y'all/eBay lack of insight.

Now, it's common knowledge one can't blatantly advertise any particular listing on the community boards, but if one keeps in mind that their posts/responses might entice an onlooker to think to themselves "wow, that person sounds very professional and reputable, and reasonable, I'll have to check-out their sales..."

But I guess due to human nature, like in, the tongue is quicker than the mind, and with that in mind, I guess many posters fear that, hence causing a negative effect in the light of self-marketing. But I'd think as for eBay, that tongue being quicker than mind isn't too much of a desired reflection.

The new community platform, just gotta get use to it.

@hurryagain

I broke down and went to my android phone to check things out.  I do not have the eBay app, but used chrome browser....good news is....the giant banner is not there, so in a sense it is responsive..LOL...too bad to be you if you use a computer though until you can block it. ...haven't checked my tablet yet.

Re: Seeing issues with the new Community platform?

You took the friendly and fun collectables category that had a solid group of helpful and knowledgeable members and chopped it up into a hundred little fragments.

In my opinion, you destroyed it, and destroyed the community.
