At one time, I could search only my own posts for content, but I can't seem to do that now.
As an example, I'd do this when someone asked about an object or an artist on the Collectibles & Art board and I knew that once before I'd given considerable info on the subject, with appropriate citations to verify. Instead of repeating all the work, I'd search my own posts with a keyword or two, and then copy and paste any appropriate bits to the new query.
I can no longer find a way to do this; that is, to search just my own posts. Has this function been removed, or am I failing to see how to do it?
Thanks for any help or ideas.

Hi @maxine*j I've never searched my own posts, so I'm trying to envision how you did this. Was there a search bar at the top under your profile?
nicole@ebay can you help me keep an eye here please?

Yes, there was a search bar connected to only one's own posts. You just had to put in a couple of the keywords used in your previous reply to the same / similar topic and, bingo! Not an essential function, but a handy one.

It is still possible to do this using the new board format, though it is somewhat more cumbersome now.
Start with a general board search using keywords. If necessary, narrow to a particular forum. From the results, use the "Author" filter to enter your own username and select it. Then change the sort order to see the latest posts you made containing those keywords.
If you change the keywords, the filters reset and you must go through that again.
Previously it was possible to bookmark a page of your own posts and simply search using keywords without the additional steps.

There used to be a way to do this from your community profile, but I don't think that is possible any more. That's probably what you remember.
Here's how you can do it now.
I often find that its hard to get results, probably because you have to have the right keyword to start with. Partly because of that, I often find the community search is not very effective.
I sometimes do a google search instead, and include "site:community.ebay.com" to limit the results to hits on the community forum.

Yes, there used to be a search bar on the member's profile page, in the colored part at the top. It's not there now. Disappeared within the last few years, I think.

Do you remember the last time you used this? Approximate time is all I'm looking for.
No, I am sorry but I can't remember; certainly it is not a recent change.

Thank you both for taking so much time with this. I have, actually, done what you both suggest but, as you both also note, it is clumsy, time-consuming, and often non-productive. Maybe if there had never been an easy way to do it, I wouldn't be batting an eye at all that; as it is, it frustrates me. 😞

Okay, I'll ask support if there's anything we can do to add it back in. Maybe there's a component missing on the backend that I might need to just turn on.

Thank you for looking into this. It was a handy feature, and if it can be restored that would be nice.

When the board format changed sheila@ebay, so did search.
In addition to the changes mentioned above, ALL searches now default to a general search.
For example: If you search from the Shipping board, it used to show you results exclusive to the Shipping board. Now it shows results from all boards/groups and you have to follow @eburtonlab's instructions above to narrow down your search results by board or member or other criteria.
It's extra steps because everything defaults to a general search and ignores search parameters that were previously pre-defined based on the page where your search originated.

I talked to the TAM and she said that we don't have the option to add search to our profiles. That's too bad. I'm adding this to our idea exchange. Perhaps engineering will pick this up as a future enhancement.

Thanks for checking into this, Sheila.
Another slightly less cumbersome way to search your own profile:
Create a sample keyword search as described in the previous posts, then bookmark the search, possibly putting the bookmark in a browser tool bar or other convenient accessible spot.
To search for a different set of keywords, use the bookmark to load the sample search. Then, instead of entering new keywords into the search field on the page, directly edit the search URL. Find the sample keyword in the page address, and directly enter new keywords in place of the sample keyword using spaces to separate different keywords. Then hit "enter" to load the new search.
This saves having to enter the author information again, at least.

Thank you very much for looking into this. It would be nice if something we had for years, that worked flawlessly, could now become a "future enhancement." 🙂
