I had to go all the way to page 6 to find that post by sheila@ebay  asking for issues we see in the new boards design. It’s sad to have to go all the way there for an important post that had very recent activity. Anyway, I went there only to find the thread was closed. Fair enough.

I hope this makes her list, I just noticed the notification feed doesn’t entirely work. I didn’t get notification of a member who mentioned my name in a post. I’d hate to think if that isn’t just a fluke and the notifications are a poop storm. Just an FYI. Thanks.

I also have to wonder if the creators of this new design have ever designed a forum before. Did they just create it from scratch and didn’t have anything to use as reference? Sure seems like it to me.

@bigdeals,etc.

Sheila said in her introductory post in October of 2020 that she was new to eBay, but I'm sure she had to have been an active participant in the Community discussion boards for many years before that. Otherwise, why would anyone think they'd know the first thing about "improving" it after using it only five months?

Oh, uh, never mind.

Looks like to me they stripped everything out and then posted a bare bones site....hoping (perhaps) to add "features" as we griped.....  only problem is that, from past experience, it will probably take 6 months to get some functions back......  not fun in whatever the meantime will be.........

Every day, I tell myself just to leave and come back when/and if........  hard to do after 14 yrs on the site....

The notification bell is in the pipeline for improvement. Though I don't have an ETA on when this will be improved by Khoros. When I hear news about this, I'll post in the Community.

I think it was AC green who said this is the exact same thing when lithium took over. Is that true? If so, how long did it take for them to enable thread bumping? I feel that is the most important feature that the board doesn’t have currently.

I don't remember the thread bumping............but do remember the hover over the title for the snippet of the subject..........pretty sure that was 6 months.....  There were problems when they switched, but I sure don't remember them being this bad..........where all the functions were lost.

What scares me......that they couldn't/ wouldn't fix what to me seemed simple.......i.e. adding the thread title back into the individual posts promised since last June......and then it still doesn't show up in the "new" version.......and we have to "make a list" of functions that were lost......  that's just not how most things seem to work on the internet.

I agree with AC that the thing to do is reinstate the old platform, let Khoros/somebody study what's there and write the "extra" stuff up........and THEN reload a basic  model, adding the extras in a bit at a time, if time is necessary.  I'm just afraid no one quite understands the "list" or has any idea of what stuff we need to be pretty obvious, not buried somewhere.  The system status thing is now on the community home page buried on the right side bar.......tell me if you are going to look there when you need it?

I credit Shelia with commitment and effort.....but knowledge of what is needed where is important also.

I agree that would be the way to go. But it seems like they are not wanting to do this huh. Why did they decide to change all this in the first place? If they thought there was problematic issues with the previous platform that required a complete overhaul, they may fear that your solution may have someone "accidentally" write up/load one or more of the previous problematic issues into the new platform... hence the idea of wiping the slate completely clean and starting from scratch.

I just hope the developers would be more straightforward and tell us what functionality they never intend to bring back. TBH, if the thread bumping never comes back, I'm pretty much outta here and will only post when I have no other option. I've already stopped answering many important posts has it's a headache to try and follow them without tagging them as bookmarks. This forum is a joke without it.
