Now we can see who replied last and when but we can't see on the actual posts WHICH post they're replying to?
Talk about making a "conversation" meaningless (and when did a discussion become a conversation anyway?)
Talk about confusing.

Unless things have changed again, if there is no "In response to" line in the header of a response, it is a response to the original post of that thread.

Here is a reply to myself, which should have the "In response to" with a link to the response I am replying to.

It's not just the Community Platform and discussions that are being broken. Yesterday using my desktop computer when I clicked on Active Listings eBay had stolen half the page to add a link to the Spring Seller Update and to display a Summary area. There was lots of white space. I'm guess on a smart phone no active listings would show up on the first screen.
When I clicked to Add a photo, eBay opened a different window with over 2/3 of that page containing a white space saying "Select a file to preview." So I saw just 1/3 as many photos as previously but lots more white space. When I'm listing I never select a file to preview because I know which photos I intend to use in the listing.
I printed invoices to begin working on my 2020 tax return, and out of curiosity I looked at a Feb. 2021 invoice. Again, lots of white space. Formerly 11 or so fees appeared on a page taking 4 lines per fee. Now just 4 or 5 fees appear on a page taking about 11 lines per fee, thus using more paper to print all that white space. And instead of the fees being listed in order of date, the dates were random with early dates appearing after later dates.

The problem now then is that a lot of posters are replying to the OP post when their response is actually to another poster.

Some users seem to always use the reply button in the original message, and some always use the reply button in the last message, regardless of which post they are actually responding to; not much the board software can do about that, though.

I agree with @eburtonlab that the feature is probably working the way they designed it to work--identifying to whom the post is addressed, but no identification when replying to the OP.
So, yeah. I believe it's working. I just think it's yet another one of the long list of absolutely RIDICULOUS decisions that went into this redesign. Probably the same reason they eliminated thread titles in each reply--"too much visual clutter."😂 😥 😡

Has it ever occurred to them that maybe we LIKE what they call "visual clutter"?

Looks like they makes have actually fixed the "go to last post read" issue, now if we can just get the most recent threads (ie responded to as well as started) moving to the top we can ignore the rest for now.
