Maybe i just missed the memo here but I am trying to understand how I got a notification from the Community with the text I have in the Subject line above.
It was a notification about a NEW topic in the Selling group and not one that I had ever seen or replied to before. [user] was the ID of the OP and was no one I have ever seen here before. [subject] was the entire Subject line of the new post.
That was followed by another notification to tell me that 12 people had responded so far.
How did I get chosen to be notified like that? Is it something that one of the other responders might be able to send to me if they see something that they think I would be interested in? We have new topics popping up by the dozens every day but this is the only notification of its type that I have seen so far. Just curious.

According to that group's member list, you joined on October 6, 2021 at 9:10 am and are still a member. You posted a response to one of the threads in that group at 9:12 am the same day.
Because there's a big blue join button on that forum, I wonder if you had to join the group in order to post a reply. Joining the group could have triggered an automatic subscription to notifications.

@itsjustasprain you could subscribe to your post to get email notifications.

sheila@ebay : Thanks - I think I have figured out what happened although it was not a direct subscription to a thread as I had never seen that topic before and had never heard of that user before.
Apparently I somehow subscribed myself (or someone who thought I would be interested subscribed me themselves) to a Community group called 'eBay Unfair, Unforgiving and Uncaring!' (no kidding - this is the link: https://community.ebay.com/t5/eBay-Unfair-Unforgiving-and/gh-p/g-1600005252) and then someone posted a new topic there for which I then got notified:
It still seems a little bizarre to me (and I have never proposed filing a lawsuit or anything like that) but I know now I can delete my 'subscription' to that thread or group. I just do not see how I could accidentally signed up in the first place.

@itsjustasprain hmmm, I don't think anyone can subscribe you to a post, but they can invite you to the board. Perhaps that's what happened? I haven't been invited to a board on this Community, since I'm an admin. I know, for the eBay Community, either an email or private notification message is sent, though I can't recall if you have to accept the invite or if you're automatically invited.
Did you get any type of notification?

Thanks! I think you nailed it. It was just a joking reply to a post by some whackjob and I do not recall having to take any additional steps in order to post there but evidently I did. Mystery solved. 😊
