New Community layout - better turn it off until you fix some basics ...

brian@ebay, sheila@ebay ,

Just saw the new layout, please note:

1. No notification feed or link on the Home page

2. as discussed in our meeting, not enough topics displayed per screen ... only 2 compared to 8 & 11 on the old Notification page and Home page, pic below

3. Way too much stuff on the home page, pic below ... I don't read any of it, I just scroll past it to see the topics ... while get the "Brand" issue you mentioned in our meeting things can still be made smaller, we don't need this type of splash page ...

4. I suggest you turn this off until you get the Notification feed turned on ... it's hard to want to support The Community as a Mentor without convenient features like we had before.

This new layout is horrible.

Don't know who thought this was an improvement.

Have a great day.

This is a mess..I wonder if they really will listen to us who are on here often.

You know how eBay is...once they "improve" something, they seem to want to carry on with it because...you know...it's iMpRoVeD!

...ugh...🙄

@hurryagain, @kensgiftshop   There was a zoom call on this last week, we were told to give them our comments once it goes live, which it has.  They would like constructive criticism on it BUT they emphasized to us that from higher up there is a requirement for the "brand" to stand out ... they will do what they can but this is supposed to be designed for BOTH iphones and computers, which is often an issue for programmers from a space standpoint.

@mr_lincoln thanks for this feedback! Can you clarify what you mean by point 1? The bell icon still pulls up notifications when clicked on, so I don't think I understand what you mean by notification feed. Thanks!

Oh...I can tell that this was a redesign for phones because of all of the white in it.  That is the big give-away.

Same basic format as our newer purchase history pages, watch pages...etc...

Everything is being switched over to accommodate phone users.  It's so AwEsOmE!  😶

brian@ebay  I'm not going to speak for @mr_lincoln but I am not able to see the notifications when I hover over the bell.  This would help me get back to the threads I was reading.  Also, on the main screen, I used to be able to hover over the title and a small snippet of the thread would be seen and I could decide if I could answer it or not.  Another issue for me--lots of white space is not easy on the eyes, especially those of us with glasses.

Ditto...I am having to open the bell in a separate tab to keep on the page that I am on.  That is how I am doing it for now.

@hurryagain  I am clicking on my seller avatar in the right corner next to the message/bell icons.  I don't like to click on the bell because that clears the number to 0.  I like to see the total number each month (stupid, petty).

It's not stupid.  We all have our reasons for doing what we do.  That is an interesting way to keep track of the monthly total, I would have never thought of that.  🙂

brian@ebay   I saw the "bell" with a number in a balloon but since the eBay site uses the Bell too I figured I had sales or messages ... imagine my surprise when I clicked on it and the Notifications for The community were there.  A bit confusing because on the previous Community version where the Bell actually WAS notifications for eBay sales or messages ...

@mr_lincoln I hadn't even noticed that one bell was missing.  You are right.

@evry1nositswindy the drop-down when hovering your cursor over the bell was a customization and not an "out of the box" Khoros feature. One purpose of this redesign was to increase Community performance and page load times. To achieve this we had to abandon such customizations because we found they were slowing things down. With that said, we'll see what custom features might be an option in the future, but we want to be careful going forward to ensure the Community runs smoothly and quick.

I am sorry that you are getting an earful eyeful today.  I know that it is your job but it can be difficult with all of us screaming at you through our keyboards so I feel that I owe you a bit of an apology.  Many of us are clearly unhappy with the new layout of the boards today.
