I keep getting logged out of the Community when I shut off my laptop. The next morning I get the "Join the Community." I don't log out of my account. It takes 3 or 4 tries to get logged back in. I have the "Sign me in automatically to Community discussion areas*" in my preferences.
This started happening when they put up the community survey.

See here for some possible things to try if you are having difficulty signing in to the community:

The info in the link DOES NOT WORK!
NONE of the solutions work. I have my check mark in preferences and have had it always. I don't have enhanced tracking on in Firefox. And there is no Icon for Adobe Flash or JavaScript. Flash is no longer supported in Firefox or Chrome. I log in and out all the time. So It isn't me or my computer it is KHOROS!

The steps outlined in that thread will not prevent Khoros from requiring a new sign-in -- but they may allow you to sign in again if you are having problems and the community sign-in link just kicks you back to the main page without actually signing you in.
I have my check mark in preferences and have had it always.
If you still have a problem signing in, try unchecking that box and applying, then re-checking and applying again.

Flash is still supported, but can no longer be enabled by default in many browsers; you may need to give permission again to use it if a site requires it.
I log in and out all the time.
Why? If you are having problems signing in, signing out seems like a bad idea unless you have specific security concerns. If you need to use multiple accounts, use a different browser for each account and stay signed in to make things easier.

I shouldn't have to jump through hoops and change this and add that and do this and do that, to make eBay's software work. It is their problem, not mine!

We all agree with you 100% that we shouldn't have to jump through hoops. Since we can't fix the site all we can do is offer suggestions.
Ebay's community platform provider ( Khoros) needs to be fired in my opinion. There are SOOO many glitches that just are never fixed.

I've been using computers for 45 years. I am not a novice. These erroneous solutions don't work. I tried the logging out logging in and it didn't work.

Instead of shutting "off" your laptop, try putting it in "standby", "sleep" or "hibernate mode".
This way it remembers cookies that say you are logged in.
Works on my Toughbook. Maybe it will work for you.
Good luck!

I think that some posters are doing the old "is your refrigerator running, Yes, you better go catch it" Routine. The old Dick Van Dyke skit with the phone call spoof. See how many people play the game and get squat!

I feel your pain, make sure you are logged in before you try to respond. It should not have to be this hard.I shoud not have to rely on tech people for a work around.
I like it when things are easy,if something needs to be fixed in the future it usually means its broken now.
there are many broken parts to ebay and just as many workarounds but a newbie shoud not be at a disadvantage because they do nt know how to manage snafus with ebay

I used incognito mode on my browser to sign in to the community today and it worked. No redirect back to the community sign in page. 🙂
It's faster than waiting for the site preferences page to load which is the method I have been using the last couple of days.

This has been going on for WEEKS for me. It takes a VERY long time to sign in to the Community....sometimes I just give up in frustration (after yelling and swearing). I've tried the "workarounds" -- they have not worked.
You would think Ebay would put SOME type of effort to fix this since Community members are an integral part of Ebay, offering FREE labor and expertise to help THEIR members.
😠

Today I booted up the desk top and was signed in, yesterday I was not, tomorrow who knows! I know that is not a solution, but just a "your not the only one" post.
