Support is having a hard time replicating this and so am I. Though I'm quite positive that I've seen this issue for myself, I just don't know the exact steps to prove that this issue exists.
Support, the EU team and I had a long conversation about this one yesterday and we do have some theories on what might be happening.
When you find the notification missing, perhaps the person @ mentioning you didn't @ mention properly. Sometimes when you @ mention and you start typing and hit the back button, when you're finished typing the name, it didn't hyperlink so the @ mention will not show in your notification.
I've seen reports of multiple notifications showing in the list. Perhaps, for example, someone gave you a helpful and @ mentioned you as well? Hence the reason you're getting two notifications.
I haven't seen this in a long time, but if you're trying to tag someone and you type tyler@ebay - this will not show a notification for Tyler. There has to be an tyler@ebay to trigger a notification for him. tyler@ebay just using your handle for a test!
If you suspect none of these action items are the case and the notification bell is broken, it would be great if you could help me bring some insight into this so I can help support replicate this issue.

Since I haven't heard from anyone about issues with the notification bell, I'm going to unpin this post and will close the case with support. If you encounter this issue again in the future, please feel free to create a new post, providing as much detail as you can, and I'll reopen the support ticket.

This issue has not been resolved sheila@ebay. What detail do you need?
This screenshot shows how a notification from over half an hour ago can be seen when hovering over the bell, but the bell is not red and the notification does not appear in the feed on the notifications page.

@wastingtime101 this example is exactly what I'm looking for. Are there any other issues you see with notifications?

While you are on the subject of notification bells, It has not worked on a buyers SUMMARY page for at last 3 months now. Even with unread messages and shipping notifications sent to me, when hovering over the bell, the ONLY response is "notifications are not available at this time". This is still and has been happening there since last Thanksgiving 2021 and maybe earlier. The notify bell on forums problem just comes and goes intermittently.

Notifications eventually show up in the feed and the bell turns red hours later. When that happens there are occasionally notifications omitted from the feed that I saw in the hover window earlier.
The issue is with any/all notifications from @ mentions to helpfuls to alerts.

@transamcc I haven't seen this issue with the notification bell. Can you share a screenshot please?

Hey @transamcc! Sheila can work on the Community notification bell stuff and I can try to help with the eBay site side of things. What is the buyer Summary screen you're referring to? The Purchase History? The notification bell doesn't tend to change or update as it should be independent of whatever screen you're on.
When I go into your transamcc account and hover over the bell in the upper right corner I'm not getting the error/message that you do. For example, I see a few notifications there right now and when I hover over it I can see all of them.
Please follow-up with how you're accessing the site (I was on a Chrome browser) and any trouble shooting you've already done like clearing cache and cookies, trying different browsers, etc. A screen shot would also help so we can see what you see. Thanks!

Thanks for involving yourself. Summary is my home page on Ebay. I cannot do screenshots for you I am running windows and Firefox on a desktop. I never use a phone for anything except talking. I went to my homepage a minute ago and for the second time since Nov 30 2021 I can see notifications instead of the generic response of Notifications are not available at this time. I see the same 4 that you do. One day in January, I also had displayed there a single notification. I will monitor and get back to you. As for cookies and cache I clear all history every time I log out and never allow third party cookies. Host site cookies allowed only for the current session. I will delete 1 notification, logout and then come back and see if all are gone. As I said, this is only the second time since last November that it has worked at all on the ebay side for me.

I went to my homepage (summary), deleted one notification, declined a seller offer, read one ebay message, then returned to my homepage summary and ALL notifications are now gone. Hovering over the bell says: notifications are not available at this time, just like it has for 3 months. I have not done any logout or logins in the interim.

This reply was meant for you, not for myself. It is on the issue of homepage ebay notifications.

The community notification bell has always notified me of helpfuls marked, but only notifies me when a responder replies to me when I have marked the option email me when someone replies, OR when someone quotes part of my post in replying. So unless I am quoted or have marked email me, the only community notifications I have received in the past 2 years are helpfuls given.

That's so odd @transamcc! I went to your account again and the bell wasn't lit up but I tried hovering over it and saw two notifications for Watched Item Reminders in the pop-up that appeared. I didn't click on anything.
You said you use Firefox so I tried on that browser along with Chrome, and I don't see the error you do with that browser either. When I hovered over the bell, I saw the same two notifications for Watched Item Reminder l saw on the Chrome browser. Would you mind trying a different browser to see if you still get the error message instead of the notifications? It's odd that I don't run into the same thing you do on either browser.

Do not worry about it. I have been living with it for months and just thought it to be intentional by ebay. Additionally, the community bell notified me that you had replied as well as mentioned me. First time in 2 years I've had a community notification of a reply instead of just helpfuls marked and xxxxx mentioned you. When it all quits working I will play solitaire on my computer instead of shopping ebay.

Ok, if you change your mind though and decide to try another browser @transamcc, be sure to let us know what happens. I can always file a ticket with our tech team and the more details I can provide them with, the better. I do know it's a little harder to help when it can't be recreated on our end, but it never hurts to send a ticket on to them. Screen shots are always nice to, so we can see what you are seeing. There is a cool tool called the Snipping Tool that I love to use, or you can do an internet search for how to take a screen shot on the browser/device that you use.
I'm also happy to hear that the Community notification bell made you aware of my tag. Hopefully that keeps happening!

Thank you. I retired after 36 years in IT, having supported both hardware and software issues. In my experience, other than catastrophic power issues and rare actual electronic failures, over 70% of all failures in the industry in the past 50 years have been directly attributable to software upgrades, revisions, enhancements, and feature adds. Although unintentional, the undesired results are usually caused by overflow influence into areas not intended to be affected at all. With what I have seen with the volume of recent changes, any attempt to fix this issue will most likely first result in further degradation in this or another area of the platform. Without solid change control management, prior notification of intent to the users, step by step documentation , and limited partial platform initial testing instead of sudden system wide change, one ends up with the users trying to figure out what happened. I do not feel responsible to troubleshoot the software issues on your platform.
