I'm just wondering if the ebay reps are having some kind of pool or contest going on concerning number of Helpfuls received.
Seems funny most of the ebay reps. are soliciting for helpfuls as their tagline.

The Lithium platform promotes content that it believes will be helpful to users. Two things that can identify content as useful are Helpful ratings and Accepted Solutions. That's why we encourage users to helpful posts that they find..... helpful.
That statement says to me, that the lithium platform is responsible for the placement of the tagline and that you are okay with that. Nothing terribly wrong with that.
I didn't bring up the #7 rule, and I Do understand the intent of the rule. This was just a curiosity question.
Maybe some rewording of the tagline might be more appropriate.

I've been trying to overlook that considering Rule 7, but now I see that regular folks are picking it up and adding it.

Hi @tev4all,
There is no contest going on. The Lithium platform promotes content that it believes will be helpful to users. Two things that can identify content as useful are Helpful ratings and Accepted Solutions. That's why we encourage users to helpful posts that they find..... helpful.
You can find out more on this via this link: https://community.ebay.com/t5/About-the-Community/About-Accepted-Solutions/m-p/27863554#M48
The rule about Helpful abuse in our guidelines was created as we had an instance where a user created multiple accounts so that they could up-vote their posts. That is disruptive to the Community.
Thanks.

Me too. After seeing IT showing up as several reps. tagline, my curiosity began to peak, now that regular members are using IT, IT is beginning to be annoying.

Most taglines are annoying. You can hide them in your site preferences.

Hello Alan, are members of the community allowed to use the same signature re: helpfuls and solutions that are used by the blues? I know this was already asked and answered *somewhere*, I can't recall where though and I thought the answer was no. Just wondering because I'm seeing members soliciting helpfuls in their signatures.....I don't think that should be allowed.

Hi @missjen831,
If users want to copy the signature that I am using that is OK with me.
Thanks.

For whatever it's worth, I suspect that's still happening. I see a few with disproportionately high numbers.

Thanks. We'll keep a close eye out for this behavior.

Hello Alan,
THAT looks much better, and applies to everyone - user and staff, alike.
Now, if you guys could just limit giving each other 'helpfuls', it might not look so suspicious, as well. A 'helpful' generally means, to my mind, useful to the reader, but you guys already 'know' the answers.
01-27-2018 01:14 PM
Hi @gracieallen01, I don't understand why we would limit giving each other a "Helpful" if we find another eBay employee's post helpful, or what is suspicious about it. I regularly give alan@ebay, @Anonymous, tyler@ebay, brian@ebay helpfuls, as their posts are helpful and useful to other posters. If a Community member's post seems helpful to me, I'll also give it a helpful. I don't understand any reason for suspicion in us giving each other helpfuls. We're not competing to move up any rankings, and it's our job to be...helpful.
Marking posts helpful, and marking Accepted Solutions helps identify useful posts to the rest of the Community, and posts with helpful and useful answers.
No conspiracies.

My only thought is that you folks are SUPPOSED to know the answers, know how to find out the answers and, get you paid for doing it by the company for which you are providing the answers.
It just seems like the proverbial 'Mutual Admiration Society' - just a thought, no offense meant.
You'll have to forgive me - I'm part of the pre-baby-boomer society.
