Generic answers keeping old threads alive

Has anyone noticed all the generic answers on almost every thread? What is up with that?

That is excellent specific advice. Thank you very much.

I welcome your decision and wish you well. And I adore your tidy home... wish I had one. Good luck.

These answers have nothing to do with the topic and they keep coming??

Yes, that would be one avenue, but the better avenue is to have some darn chargeback protection on this site.

Thank you for taking time and explaining this to us. We appreciate that.

I have also noticed that most if not all of them are Sri Lankan posters, thinking their number of posts qualify them to be sellers.  Somewhere along the way they have been told that kudos earned here equate to being a good eBayer.

The most recent ones are not Sri Lanka. And they are showing up on nearly every post.

What's wrong with thanking someone for helping you out?

But they are not always thanking someone. Sometimes their post has absolutely nothing to do with the thread.

Personally I think if eBay did away with the silly badges and helpfuls these posters might not post at all. Most of these IDs were created in the last week and show United States and rack up a lot of posts and helpfuls.

Maybe we need an Unhelpful (thumbs down) to select?

Nothing, but it is out of context. If you go back and read through the board you will see what I mean. I'm sure one will show up on this thread.

"Yes, I think the same as you."

I just read this post on a thread and there were 4 non sequiturs after that one by the same poster.  Said US location, ID created this month.  I still think Sri Lanka based on the grammar used.

Yes I've noticed them. And they don't bother me at all.

At least they are polite, I've seen some nasty posts here lately from regular posters.

All of our little Sri Lankan wanna be sellers and earn badges friends, drives you nuts, and it is annoying and disruptive because you go in to see if someone else has asked another question to find nothing but useless gibberish and copy paste replies they make on every and any thread, on topic or not.

One of them C&P' my earlier post in a thread word for word LOL

They are Sri Lanka, just haven't updated their address yet after registering - you can tell very easily, and they seem to come in waves LOL

There's a thread on that here:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Share-Community-Platform/What-s-with-all-the-strange-one-liner-replies...

It is a bizarre new phenomenon and these posts are hitting every board.

They bother me for three reasons:

The first is that they often sound like the OP, simply posting under another ID (as sometimes happens when people forget they've switched), with replies such as, "Thank you for the feedback.  It is helpful."   Depending upon what post that was in reply to, it can make it seem as though the OP considers the matter closed / solved.

The second is that they often post one of the "I agree" variations to something that is wrong, which can confuse an OP, or even lead an OP astray.

The third is that they resurrect dead threads to no purpose, and that suppresses more recent ones.

None of those are any big deal, but they are annoyances.  And it's getting rapidly worse, going from a few of these odd posts to multiples on every single thread on some boards.

Mostly, it's just interesting because it's a puzzle as to why it is happening.
