Forums loading very slowly

While probably unrelated to the slowness issues I'm posting it here anyway. I got this error when I tried to log out of the forum doug@ebay

No I don't use a VPN and I'm located in the US.

@coffeebean832 I did some Googling and checked on a couple of things, thus the VPN question. Interestingly an eBay Community post came up as a high result: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Member-To-Member-Support/Access-Denied-you-don-t-have-permission-to-ac....

I would suggest to clear your cache and cookies, and reset your router.

Boards are always slow for me because of that AddThis thing that is attached to that Share blue button. Is there a way to disable that Share button as I would never in a thousand years need to use it. That might make AddThis go away?

I'm using the desktop version on a Windows 10 machine w/ Chrome browser. Are you using the mobile app? I ask because I don't see anything about "AddThis" or a "Share blue button."

Computer, Windows 10, using Firefox. Don't have a mobile device so I don't know what would be seen on the app.

Up at the top of every thread, over on the right hand side next to the first post just under the options there is a big blue button to bookmark and next to that a blue button to share. If you hover over the share button it shows all sorts of social media stuff like Facebook, etc and at the bottom of that box is a plus sign with the words AddThis. With every thread that I open I can see that it is stalling out, waiting on addthis.com. Since my DSL connection is majorly pathetic with speeds of 2.60 Mbps up and 0.41 Mbps down so it doesn't take much to stall it out and slow it down.

AddThis is a browser extension not related to the eBay forum. If you can't figure out how to disable it in your browser preferences then go to this page and contact their support e-mail for help-

There is also adware called addthis but if that was the problem you'd be seeing lots of pop-ups. Just in case, here's some info on that for you-

Then why am I seeing it mentioned within that block of stuff that shows up if you hover over the Share This Button? I didn't put that Share This Button on every thread ... Lithium must have done it because it is the same size and color as the Bookmark Button that is right beside it.

And if it is browser related why do I never see it anywhere but here on these Boards. I go to a lot of other boards and groups and websites and the only place it shows up is here in the eBay Boards.

Possibly because regular users are now inured to ebay community pages loading/running like slugs? Why bother reporting on something that never gets fixed? You just get to where you cuss and live with it.

I don't know- maybe it has something to do with the fact that it's an add-on that's no longer supported so its appearance is sporadic? You can take the advice offered on how to disable it or not- if you would rather live with it that's your prerogative.
