Comments on "Community redesign feedback list"

sheila@ebay: I've read through the entire (current) list of complaints, errors and omissions, and what struck me the most was how familiar they all were. As we know, Khoros (and Lithium, before the merger) support community discussion groups for many other companies besides eBay, tailoring each to the needs of that particular customer.

It seems to me that someone at eBay decided to do a clean-sheet overhaul of the community area, and Khoros obliged by simply upgrading it to the latest generic release, leaving out all the eBay-specific tailoring and modifications that had been applied to the last installation.

Thus, for example, we have lost the feature that planted a small eBay logo at the end of any thread Subject line to which one or more eBay employees had posted replies. No other company supported by Khoros would have that particular detail, of course, and until Khoros can finish playing catch-up by restoring it to the current software release, we won't have it either. Other long-standard details (e.g. pushing the latest replied thread to the top of the list), features that are now requests or complaints about the new release, are also things that were added by user request to the last release. Basically, we have to do this all over again.

These familiar, here-we-go-again complaints are what led to my theory of why things have gone so badly sideways here: they weren't removed per se; they just needed to be restored or applied to the new version before it was installed.  Rather than update the eBay-specific community software to the current version, Khoros seems to have thrown the baby out with the bathwater and just started over with the latest base package. You need to put pressure on Khoros to get their act together, and roll back the current release until they are able to produce one that is a true enhancement of the previous eBay-specific environment. Right now, this ain't it.

Yea, i don’t I was here at the beginning of lithium. But it seems to me they decided to try and reinvent the wheel.

One of the really hysterical things is that supposedly they're going to address the "large number of boards" on this current version, yet when Lithium took over from Live World there were many many more boards than they gave us after they took a large number and transported them to the Groups cornfield.

Since that pared down beginning, ebay keeps constantly adding more & more boards (like Seller Hub, IOS, Android, Community Feedback etc etc etc) but instead of reducing those boards they want to pare down the boards the members actually use (again).

They could always reinstate the Trust & Safety (Safe Harbor) board - that would be interesting given the current climate.

@ronsam-197

There is probably a good reason why that one got the axe.  LOL!  They will probably reinstate that one as soon as they put the "report this message" button back in the ebay messages.   Can't have ebay flooded with the "text me" and "change of address"  scammers actually being reported as soon as they show up.  Just too many to deal with I would imagine.

I also recall we had a Seller Protection board (briefly) at some point (along with a seller protection team who were actually getting results (most likely the reason they were axed as well).
