Buyer emailed me 2 weeks after tracking said it was delivered. She opened a claim against me, she said someone stole it off her porch. I told her it was delivered, and that I had no control over porch thieves. Will ebay side with me?

Yes- you will need to answer the 'return request' with the tracking number (answering ebay, not the buyer).

Add the tracking number into the case even though ebay already has the tracking showing delivered. Make sure you do that. If it’s showing delivered to the correct address on the customers account and payment source already checked out by the money processor, they will not win that case. No porch theft is the BUYERS RESPONSIBILTY, they must have a secure location for their packages and they must pick them off their porch before the theirs get to it.

Before the porch pirates get to it, Sorry typing too fast.

Yes, ebay will side with you as long as there is a delivery scan posted on the USPS/UPS/FedEx website & showing up in the Ebay system. Just make sure you added the tracking number in the case to cover everything.

Before it even reaches the point where you would need to use the tracking to prove the item was delivered ....... just what exactly does she think a RETURN is? WHAT will she return if she doesn't have anything?
Here's where an important question comes in: do you have 'free returns' on your items? If so, the act of her simply filing a return automatically generated a return shipping label for her. If not, then the return screen is asking if you will accept the return, and if you click yes, it will give her that label. Either way, she will then have only a certain number of days (I don't know how many at this point--somebody else can say, but I think it's maybe 10 days?) to get the package moving back to you. But again, how can she ship you a package if she never received one?
Of course the risk is her sending you back a package of rocks or whatever, but that is something I've never seen anyone here claim actually happened to them, just a thing of legend.

Just remit the tracking number and you should be good to go. PS...You really should start accepting returns and providing the labels. This is where sellers get into trouble. No returns does not mean no refunds.
Happy Holidays!

I see some sellers say returns within 30 days or 14 days-BUT buyer pays for return shipping.

Since it's an item not received claim, returns don't come into play.
Someone that used to post here said they have a shelf in their warehouse full of rocks buyers returned instead of the auto parts they sell. I see reports of rocks, phone books, and other junk being returned all the time across different internet forums.

Yes, ebay will side with you as long as you put the tracking # in the case. Did you ask your buyer to check their surroundings. Perhaps the box is under a bush or got tossed over the fence? Maybe a neighbor took it for safekeeping and forgot to give it to them.

Yes. Did you work with USPS to see if you can file for a missing parcel yet?
At least try and assist your Buyer - treat them as you would like a Seller to treat you.
Good luck!

I had this classic thread bookmarked for several years now:
Sadly, eBay has now "archived" it, which does not mean that it's retrievable from the archive on request. In a rather memorable exchange here with one of the eBay higher-ups, he explained that "archived" means that they deleted it. (Cue that classic Humpty Dumpty quote from "Through the Looking Glass" which says, in part, "When I use a word, [...] it means just what I choose it to mean.") 🙄
Anyway, the seller sold a $742 automotive air conditioning component, I think a compressor, but the buyer filed a Not As Described dispute, returning a box of junk that included a brake rotor, presumably to add some package weight. The seller posted a photo of what was returned. I don't recall now whether he actually won his appeal.

Exactly.
And tell the buyer that you have opened the USPS report asking her politely to cooperate with the postal inspectors when they call her.
And ask if she has also opened a police report yet, to notify the local cops that porch pirates are operating in the neighbourhood. Ask for the police report number for your own records.
All through eBay Messages of course.

If you uploaded the tracking PLEASE let us know what eBay decides. We actually have no idea what they will do these days. I would not be the least bit surprised if eBay sided with BUYER. That is what they do.
