Mobile Number Requirement for Selling

I attempted to create a sellers account for the business with which I am employed. The verification didn't go through and eBay called me telling me that a mobile number is needed for selling on eBay. What do business that don't have mobile numbers do?

I don't want to use my personal mobile number, because it isn't associated with my place of employment.

The phone number on the account you are trying to create must be your personal number.  Not the business you are employed with.  All info concerning a bank account, residence, ID must be identical. All info must be associated with you personally.

He/She's trying to register the business she works for..........not her personal account......

That said, I asked Concierge about 2 wks ago and they said Mobile # was not required to sell....so I don't know what to tell him/her......

Wrong, or they forgot to tell whoever decided to require it.  I have had the same landline number I have had since 1999 when I first joined eBay.  I have repeatedly tried to use it on my account.  It accepts it.  But it will not verify it.  I still have the red message on my account to update account phone number.  I do not have a mobile phone; I actually have no need for one and I do not think I should have to purchase one just to sell on eBay.  I have until February 2023 to decide if I still want to sell on eBay according to the message that I receive weekly.

Thanks... I didn't think you could do that as I thought all info has to be your own to register an account.  Would the business have to register it and the OP could run it for them?

Wait, you got a message from them saying that you needed a mobile phone to sell on ebay and that your account will be suspended in February if you do not provide it? I only have a landline too and have never heard of that. Can you message me a screen shot of the message?

There are lots of things in life I don't "want" to do either.

But in this case it sounds like using your personal mobile number would be the best/easiest thing to do. 

It's not like they'll be calling you on it all the time.

This may be of help to you. https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/getting-paid/registering-seller?id=4792. If you are setting up an account for your employer, then all their information has to match their checking account information and you have to use their tax id.

If you are selling under your personal account, then it will be all of your personal information and your ssn. There is no mixing of the two on ebay.

It is recommended that you provide them with a mobile number and email so that they can contact you, but I've never had a mobile phone associated with this account. I just got off the phone with them and it is a recommendation, not a policy as of yet.

I originally added the business landline, and even verified it, however I still get that box stating I need ebay to call me.

Is there any reason you changed your ID name?  I saw this post yesterday and it was a totally different seller name.  Changing your ID name isn't going to help your situation.

Why don't you contact Ebay on Facebook and see if they can help you.  WHen you go to Facebook, you go to Ebay's page and you click MESSENGER.  State your problem. Give them your ID.  Someone that speaks English will contact you via MESSENGER .  None of your family or friends will know that you contacted Ebay. It will be private.
