For me it would be the returns. The switch to 30/day free returns to keep TS badge has been a nightmare.

I dont necessarily want them to get rid of it, just make it for NEW items only.  I just can't be expected to be responsible for 50 yr old electronics to work like new.

Nothing says success like having over 300 listings & getting 6 sales + having listed 75 auctions with 6 getting bids & 1 selling with an offer.  7 out of 75 are guaranteed sold??!  Pfffff    Is selling in the 20-25% ratio such an impossibility anymore on here?!  Too much to ask?!   lol    Cheers!

To me, the feedback system is a way of letting buyers see if they can expect to be treated fairly and honestly, with a high degree of chance that they will get the item they expect based on the listing they are buying from. It used to be a seller could look at feedback on potential buyers to see if they would be treated fairly and honestly as well. Like it or not, there are lots of scammers out there (both buyers and sellers). The buyers can still use the feedbacks of sellers as a tool to help them. It would be nice if sellers could have the same tool again. I never knew it to be a problem before, but it was helpful against possible fraudulent buyers.

What sites are you aware of that allow for negative comments about their customers in a public forum?

Before ebay makes any changes they need to get rid of the lame brain management team they have running the place.

For me it would be ... get rid if the foreign overseas call centers for customer service.

Have you ever spoken to one of these people? With all due respect, they are useless!  Especially when you are talking to them about a complicated matter that even someone who speaks fluent English would have a hard time understanding.

The worst is when you are already frustrated, your blood is already boiling, and they start talking to you reading from a script, a script that contains broken English!   "I would like to apology Mr. Smith that you are encountering  this problems."

I want Lower Final Value Fees, lower store fees, to NOT have to pay for remorse returns in order to keep my TRS plus status, no threats or punishment for "late" deliveries when I have no control over the post office, the elimination of the feedback system entirely, immediate worldwide arrest and prison time for scammers on either side of a transaction, the Moon and Mars, and eternal life!

That said, just a few comments on others' posts.

I joined eBay in 1997, it wasn't brand new but it was very young.  It always had scammers and thieves, both buyers and sellers.  It always had new goods, it was never a purely vintage/used goods site.  Even then there were more new items than old ones.

It is never going to go back to what it was at any stage along the way.  Now, we either take it the way it is, with all its warts, or we walk away.  It is an individual decision.

This is worth repeating.  I've been here only since 1999 - started selling in 2000.

I never expected my success on eBay in the early years of a 90-95% sell thru rate the first time around to last.   Increased competition,  going public, management changes, and the recession all took their toll.

Today, while I can live with a 5-10% sell thru rate as I don't have to rely on 7-10 day auctions paying a listing fee for every one  but can use 30 day fixed priced listings and get 50 free with occasional promotional extras - I view a 20-25% sell thru rate as well above average.

Basically,  It's all about seller expectations and understanding that past sales are not a reliable predictor of future sales - whether past years or even weeks.  And that it is eBay's playing field, and they could care less what changes sellers want as long as corporate eBay is profitable.

Ahhhhh...........yesterday year..........when there were no free listings except on Dec 26, and when a $9.99 listing cost 35c plus 35c per picture......and listing prices went from there.  When sellers took all the risks and ebay could have cared less if something sold since they were pulling in those listing fees...........When default search was ending soonest.........  won't go on, but applying those to today ain't going to work in my opinion...........

Don't really know if there are any, and really don't care. I don't sell on those sites. I do buy on ebay and other sites, and as an honest person, have no problem whatsoever with being rated or not rated by any one that I shop from.

My point earlier was that feedback was one of, if not the only tool that was available to ebay sellers, that might give them a chance to avoid fraudulent buyers before getting burned by them. A seller would have no reason to balk at a sale to someone with only a negative or two over the course of a year or dozens of sales. I, as a seller, would like to be able to view real buyer feedbacks again (not the mandatory positives or no feedback in place now). If I saw someone purchasing my items, and saw that they had 5 neg feedbacks the previous month for returning different items than the ones purchased/sent to them and claiming for refunds, I would be able to cancel the sale if i thought it wasn't worth the risk. I  wouldn't want to lose my merchandise, my money, and my time. Honest buyers and honest sellers probably, for the most part, would have excellent feedback ratings. The scammers wouldn't. What is wrong with that? Buyers currently get to see sellers real feedbacks and then make a decision if they would feel comfortable buying from that particular seller. I don't see a problem with sellers being able to do the same thing. It is fair.

Brick and mortars have and use tools to screen their customers as well. Many restaraunts, bars, retailers, etc...   decide who they want to serve and who they don't. Dress codes, Cash only, no checks, no weapons, credit checks for apt rentals and others, etc...

While sellers on ebay can block buyers, it is only feasible to use AFTER you have been scammed once by EACH different dishonest buyer. Sellers have virtually no info pre-sale about a buyer that would lead them to blocking them. It used to be that sellers, through leaving neg feedbacks, were giving other sellers a heads up to be careful or not deal with particular dishonest buyers ahead of time.

I think all honest buyers wish to deal with honest sellers and vice versa. Maybe a public feedback rating system isn't the best way, I don't know. It seems that what is in place now would work just fine if ebay would actually protect/advocate for the sellers when appropriate during disputes.

Over the years, I haven't really had many bad transactions as a seller or a buyer, so this isn't a huge issue for me. I do think that being warned somehow (feedback or other) about a bad seller or bad buyer BEFORE the transaction happens  would be a good thing for everyone, including ebay.
